Anyone want to meet new people while doing something good for the community? Thinking of starting a casual group :)
Hi everyone! Would anyone be into a casual group that gets together to help out around the local community, and meet new people in the process?
The idea: a lot of us want to actually do something for our community, but it's easy to never get around to it, and doing it solo can feel intimidating or isolating. Doing it as a group makes it both easier and more fun, you're contributing to something that matters and meeting people who care about the same things.
So I'm thinking of testing a low-pressure community group where we get together to do small, genuinely useful local projects, then grab coffee/food and hang out after.
Totally open to whatever people are into, but a few starting ideas:
- parks, neighbourhood & waterfront cleanups
- assembling care/hygiene kits for local shelters
- volunteering with local food banks & community orgs
- tree planting & community garden days
…and honestly whatever else people want to bring to the table, these are just to give a sense of it.
Nothing formal or huge right away, just a low-key way to do some real good for the community alongside people who care, with a proper hangout built in.
Location's flexible and we can figure out the exact spot together based on what we do and where everyone's coming from!
