I was contacted by someone on here via the DM. It said that my account was linked to $20,000 in scams. I was directed go to a discord page and was met there by someone who was posing as a legitimate reddit security guy. First he had me rename my email connected to that account to a different account. My password was changed for the account above. Then he told me I had to pay $5,000 to help re-instate my account. I sent $1,000 and then it suddenly hit me this was a scam. I told him I wanted my money back but he said he could not do it. This scammer is actually in the Philippines but poses as someone living in Ireland. His accent should have immediately tipped me.
I have no idea of how to regain control of my account. The one I am on was created by that guy and my stuff was linked to it.
If anyone here can help me with at least getting reddit to give me my account back, I will be grateful
