Problem/goal: Ano ang pros and cons ng pag jump from a career path to another? Has anyone tried to do this kind of jump? Is it worth it?
Context: Hi, please be kind po hehe. This is a throwaway account. Currently working ako (23F) sa IT/CS field at sobrang nababagabag ako about jumping into the aviation field (ground crew kasi di pasado sa cabin crew yung height). Nung elementary pa lang ako gustong gusto ko maging flight stewardess, i just find airplanes attractive. Kahit ngayon may fixation sa airplane, i have a flight radar on my phone and everytime mapapadaan sa airport i make sure to take a look at the runway to see airplanes touchdow/takeoff.
Fast forward to college applications, nag apply ako at natanggap sa PhilSCA pero dahil during pandemic to hindi na ko pinatuloy sa pag enroll kasi inisip nila yung complexity ng byahe. Sayang pero life doesn't pause kaya nag take nalang ako ng IT/CS course sa local college malapit samin dahil 1 year na rin naman ako nag stop at wala akong balak non na gawing 2 years.
Now, graduate na ko sa kinuha kong course and working an entry-level position for almost a year. TBH, hindi ko sya passion. May time lang na naiintindihan ko yung ginagawa ko kaya nagiging useful ako sa work, pero yung motivation ko siguro yung privilege na WFH setup at sweldo. Okay naman ako sa work, mabait ang co-workers and cool ang boss. Overall wala akong masabi na negative, sadyang feeling ko parang pinagpipilitan ko lang mag fit in sa environment nila.
I was recently scrolling through my newsfeed and dumaan yung shared memory ng childhood friend ko, it was about her being certified from an institute for flight attendants. Then regret hit me again, those "what ifs" and "could've beens" flooded my noggins. I searched for the institute's name and i saw their offered programs, ang tumakbo nalang sa isip ko "what if mag apply??" Si mama and ate ko, they support the vision hahaha sinasabayan nila yung "what if???" moments ko everytime magsasabi ako na parang gusto kong mag change career.
I really want to start over and change career path. "What's keeping you from taking action?" Resources. I have to have enough money to cover fees, to fund myself, and para makapag bigay kahit papano ng pang gastos sa household needs.
Previous attempts: Honestly, no attempts other than planning. Looking for institutes, their qualifications, and requirements, kahit LinkedIn hindi nakaligtas sa paghanap ko ng opportunities haha... Hoping the one day both my guts and resources align so i can take the leap.
