**3-Month Breastfeeding Crisis Success Story**

**3-Month Breastfeeding Crisis Success Story**

I'm sharing this in case anyone else is going through what felt like a breastfeeding crisis around the 3-month mark. I remember when I was in the thick of it I was constantly reading stories on here. Not only was I dealing with a nursing strike, my baby also was showing me signs that she was struggling to nurse.

Around 10 weeks, my baby started getting increasingly fussy at the breast. I often had to use a pacifier and do the "bait and switch" just to get her to latch.

Then at 12 weeks, things got much worse. One evening she went about 5 hours without feeding and I knew she had to be hungry, but she completely refused to latch. I ended up pumping and giving her a bottle.

I hired a lactation consultant who discovered that my daughter had a lip tie, tongue tie, and significant oral tension that was making nursing difficult. With my milk being regulated at this point, my baby could no longer rely on my heavy engorged let downs that didn’t require a lot of work. She was having to work to get the milk and was unable to.

We had the ties revised, started doing the recommended exercises, seeing a Chiropractor for body work and I began using a nipple shield to help with latching. For a while, feeding while she was drowsy was the only way I could get her to nurse without a fight. Side lying is the only way she would feed. Dark quiet room also was helpful.

I’m happy to announce around 3 weeks we started to get into a good routine again while feeding before a nap/after a nap (while drowsy) and now at the 4 week mark she is starting to feed awake without any fuss! I honestly thought my breastfeeding journey was going to be over, lots of tears and stress. This time felt like FOREVER & and I constantly was reading through other stories on Reddit about this that I promised once we got through it, I would write our story.
