Balancing Travel for Work

I have a 9 month old son and returned to work in January. I enjoy work and am currently given some opportunities to travel - a few days a week over the month of June and likely more throughout the year. I’m trying to navigate how to support my husband being a solo parent for several days (he works full time, our son goes to daycare three days, and my mom watches him two days a week) and balance my desire to travel. I want to travel because I think it’s good growth at work for me but it’s also a logistical headache (connections, bringing back pumped milk, etc.) For other moms who have managed this, what worked well? Did you find a point in time where you had to say “I can’t travel right now for family reasons”? My husband is generally supportive but I still feel bad about the situation (both mom guilt for being away, and being ok about being away and for “leaving” my husband to do all of the household/parenting tasks for several days).

How does your daycare notify you of RSV in your infants classroom? I’m a first time mom and trying to understand the expectations for daycare letting parents know that a child has tested positive for RSV.

Background: My 8 month old just tested positive for RSV. He goes to daycare Monday, Thursday and Friday. When I went into drop off last Thursday, there was a sign on the door indicating there was one RSV case in the classroom. I was a little frazzled because my son was going to be around his immunocompromised grandpa on the weekend so asked for some more information. The infant and a staff member had tested positive on Tuesday but were in the classroom on Monday with my son. We received no message prior to drop off that someone my son was in contact with had RSV. Is that common? I’ve been frustrated with the daycare on other things so not sure if my general dissatisfaction is clouding my perspective. I know the outcome probably would have been the same but would have liked to have known that prior to drop off on Thursday so we could have possible reduced his exposure ahead of time with his grandpa and planned accordingly with our works.
