Selling on depop v.s. in person?
I've been selling on depop for 3 yrs, but never consistently. Recently, I'm trying to take it more seriously.
Since the start of this month, I've posted 22 items, sold 7, made $120. I'm happy, but wow, it is a grind. I work part-time, also getting my B.S. online. On top of other stuff like social, posting even 2 items /day is genuinely taking me out, energy wise. Which is kinda sad, I know some of you guys post way more than that.
Onto my dilemma. I've sold at this consignment shop before, like 3x within the last year. First time, I made 250, the week my booth was up. Next time was 100, then 250 again. It is seriously so low effort. (Ignoring all the time I've put into sourcing. I am so obsessed with fashion, I would be out hunting for clothes either way.)
But, even if I made $250 commission, I technically sold $400 worth of items. Not to undermine consignment, again, it makes things crazy easier. But seeing the net amount is what inspired me to be consistent with selling on my own.
I know it's a numbers game. The more items up on my shop, the more the business side of things will start to flow. Still, anyone else have experience in online resell versus IRL? Thoughts on the pros/cons? Eventually, I'd like to try vending at local vintage markets, maybe.
