Piano solo from “School”

I’ve loved this since I was a kid. I got to hear the most wonderful cover band from Minneapolis play 90 minutes of my favorite band from high school. The Super Tramps took the stage at a club called Crooner’s and performed all of Supertramp’s greatest hits plus a number of fantastic deep album cuts I was really hoping they dust off.

This is a band of seasoned professionals who have taken the time to lovingly craft their renditions being true to the original intent of the artists while bringing their own style and maturity to the performance—and by that I mean when you sit there in the audience waiting for that bass line to happen that you grew up with thinking “I wonder if he’s going to play that cool lick that’s coming up?” BOOM! There it is in all its subtle beautifulness. Yeah, baby!

But when the band is given an opportunity to unleash the hounds the saxophone player tears into a saxophone solo at the end of Child of Vision that would make John Anthony Helliwell proud. Then out of the blue the guitar player delivers a face melting guitar solo that was so good it got a sitting crowd to its feet we were so moved.

This a band that if you get a chance you just absolutely have to see. I can’t recommend them highly enough.
