How to switch career? From Customer Service Operations into Marketing
Hi all,
I'd really appreciate some advice.
As the title says, I would like to enter the field of Marketing. I recently completed a distance-learning BSc in Marketing, however, I did not have the chance to do an internship during my studies.
At the time, I was living in a country where the national language was not my mother tongue, so I decided to learn that first. I managed to get into B2 level, but then we had to move to a new country. Thank goodness, it has the same language, but I'm still not fluent with it. My vocabulary is still limited and I sometimes struggle to understand the nuances between words.
So, I basically have a marketing degree but no practical experience.
What is the best approach for me to enter the field?
Most entry-level Marketing jobs or trainee positions seem to focus on creating content and understandably, applicants are expected to be fluent in the local language, which I'm not yet. I also realized that this is not really the area of Marketing I'd like to get into.
I would instead like to leverage my background in customer service operations eg. KPI/performance tracking. Any suggestions on the type of marketing roles I should be focusing on? And what would be the necessary skills to develop for these roles?
Thank you in advance for all your help. It would mean a lot to me.
