I need help before i set fire to $3500 --- R7 and R8
Hello all,
I am inspired by my hunting trips to dive into photography. I would like to get a camera to document the varied animals and nature that i experience on these hunting/camping trips. Ive got about $3500 (ideally spending 3k or less) to throw together a kit for this and i dont know where to start. im not a total noob, I used to do photography for my school and took classes, but its been ten years, and the itch is coming back
my drafted plan was to get an R7 and start w the RF24-105mm f/4 L USM and a RF16mm f/2.8 (eventually add telephoto later; like the rf100-400
(i have also looked at the R8) but IBIS and the R7 fits my hands better
Long story short, i want a do-it-all set up with a good walkin around lens, a wide angle lens of sorts, and possibly if budget allows, an entry level telephoto. Im not deadset on putting together the whole kit all at once. I am totally open to piecing it together over time, but id like advice on where to start.
First and foremost id want to be taking pictures in and around camp. whether that be around the firepit, in the garage drinking beers or in a tent. i want to capture the warm relationship side of these trips, NOT portraits.
second priority, i want to get pics from my treestand or duck blind, of animals coming in, deer, ducks, woodpeckers, or anything of the such (all within 30 yards) and the possibility of them moving, so some action shots
Ill be outside, cold weather, possibly wet conditions so durability and battery life are pretty important to me,
I want something to grow into, something that will last me a while, and an ecosystem to grow around
I am open to all advice, and very appreciative:)
Thank you!!
