This is a last resort, but I'm looking for a piece of media for a family member. They think it's likely a movie but not positive. It deals with catholic priests/friars/monk characters (one of which is bald and fat). They wear brown robes and have a wooden cross. The general plot is "monks get in a misunderstanding" and get put in danger and there appears to be guns/a gang involved? This is before 2000 and here's the very specific part - the family member watched it in Costa Rica (unable to say if it was originally in Spanish or dubbed) and believes it was on Canal 7.

Absolutely hopeless but here's hoping anyways.
