Adding backup capability - should I ditch existing 10T battery?
When I bought my solar energy system in 2023, I didn’t really care about having backup capability since we rarely have power outages and I was trying to save on the cost of the system.
Now I think I would like to add it in case a major earthquake causes an extended power outages (I’m in LA and Venezuela got me thinking!)
I have 15 400W panels, IQ8 inverters, and a 10T battery. I know I need to add a controller, I am trying to decide if I should swap out the 10T for a 10C battery. The old battery has a 15 year warranty so plenty of life left, but I believe the 10T has more power. Probably the biggest power draw would be AC and not sure the 10T would cut it.
