Cat has no issues with open feed dry kibble, should I add in wet?

I recent homed a cat from a friend who was leaving the state, and the istructions from her was to just open feed. I make sure the kibble and water is topped off every day and he seems content, no issues. Hes no overweight by any means. He drinks a good amount of water it seems aswell. Im just wondering if I should maybe add in some wetfood so hes more hydrated I guess? Is there any reason to mess with a system that he seems to already be good with?
