I’m not well versed in all the terminology, so forgive me ahead of time.
My husband is addicted to kratom- the OPMS gold extract capsules. He takes 5 a day, occasionally 6. He really wants to quit, it is hurting our marriage and our finances bad. He is a police officer. He started taking kratom in 2018 when a family member introduced him to it, but he would only take it sometimes and it wasn’t an issue. We had no idea how addictive it can be. Then in 2024 he started taking these OPMS capsules and quickly became very addicted. He’s spending $40 a day on this stuff, every single day. We’re broke. We have two kids. I can’t stay in this marriage much longer if he can’t get off of it. He’s tried to stop numerous times, there’s been times where he’s gotten down to only 2 or 3 in a day, but it never lasts more than a couple days. He always gets back up to the 5 a day. What do I do? How do I help him? I have never experienced addiction myself so I don’t know what the right thing is. Worth mentioning that he has struggled with prescription opioid abuse for over 10 years, and he currently abuses tramadol as well. Thank you in advance.
