Been seeing reels of John Mayer and frusciante saying they would understand what’s going on in the song to understand what makes it sound good. I’m currently learning pretty basic theory (intervals, matching the scales to the chord shapes, triads, etc) and wanted to know how someone more experienced would go about dissecting a song and understanding the theory and/or motivation behind each note and chord
