UC gone in despite closing account
Hello,
We closed down our universal credit account last week. We requested and a few days later they closed it. (Our financial circumstances are due to change for the better very soon.)
We asked to close the account down a day or two before the assessment date - by the time they closed it, it was after the assessment date and we’d had notification of what our last payment would be.
ai assumed because the account was closed we would not actually receive that last payment. But it’s gone into my bank account today.
I can no longer ask questions in my journal as the account is closed. I’m wondering if this is normal or whether this is an error and we will need to pay the money back.
It may be relevant: our financial circs have not changed *yet*; they are due very to soon, but in terms of our income we would still be eligible for that last payment, if that makes sense. So this isn’t money to which we wouldn’t be entitled - it’s not fraud if you get me.
But did they mean to make that last payment (because they didn’t close the account until after the assessment period) or is it an error that we will need to pay back?
