Help - PP limits and tuning theory
Hey all,
I’m looking for a guide to how to select and tune a car up or down for a PP limited race. I feel like I’m banging my head against a wall with easier races (on paper) where I’m just dropped immediately off the start with a car that shouldn’t be dropped.
I’m sure there are guides or videos about this, so if someone could link some resources or another thread about this, it would be much appreciated.
If you’re wondering what my current approach is:
PP limit of 600, I’ll find a vehicle that seems to have lots of power in it’s stock config, I’ll meet the tire requirements, upgrade the brakes and pads first and make up any remaining PP I can with some more power, usually a racing ECU, air intake and muffler, if I’m just over the PP limit, I’ll trim back PP with a ballast (usually front biased weight) and power restrictor and maybe balance it a bit more with some ECU output adjusts.
It seems logical to me that especially if I add weight, the brakes are a must, but even just for more control into corners I prioritize braking ability.
Should I be paying attention to more than just PP and HP? Power to weight seems like another one I should look at more closely?
And yes, I am using a controller, and plan to upgrade to a wheel soonish. Used recommendations?
