22M Should I get a hair transplant? Been on meds a long time and bad side effects
Hey all, I was wondering if 22-24 was too young for a hair transplant for someone who has been on meds quite a while (turning 22 in july). And has had super bad sides no matter the dose. After 3 years on fin being a young man with a girlfriend and for my mental health I dont want to be bald but i can't justify being on meds anymore to slow hair loss
- Pics 1-3 May 2026 3 years after being on fin.
- Pic 4 - 16 years old, sometime in 2020, quickly started - losing my hair right after this
- pic 5 - 17 yo 2021, receding. Hair a lot thinner especially the left and right crease areas. Didn’t do anything to slow
- Pic 6 -2024, a year after fin and oral min.
I started fin and low dose oral min in March 2023, but before that did topical minoxidil for about a year (2022-2023), which didn't do much. Immediate super bad side effects that didn't get much better even after 1 year , so I went under 1mg and now am just on 0.25mg every other day.
Still on fin, but i have been slowly losing more and more hair the last 3 years since starting fin. Recently it started speeding up again. Plus my mental health and bad side effects makes me want to quit.
Should I get a hair transplant at the end of the year or sometime next year? Considering I have been on meds for a while, and there has been no progress, at most just slowing the progression of loss. It has been speeding up a the last couple of months.
But I just wondered if I get hair transplant. Mostly hairline, but put grafts across my crease and crown as well itll prevent it from looking too weird later on with no meds. I've seen similar success stories of this case of a HT, but no meds after. But they usually are around 25-26.
