Hi all,

Need some advice on a rental issue in Pune.

I vacated my flat after giving a one-month notice in March. My agreement doesn’t mention anywhere that I need to find a replacement tenant. Still, I tried and even found someone, but she backed out after dealing with the property management people due to their rude behavior.

The flat is managed by an external service since the owner lives abroad.

Now my notice period is over, and:
- My flatmate has already paid her share
- They’re asking for full rent
- The property manager is asking me to pay another month’s rent or says they’ll deduct it from my security deposit

Is this even legal when there’s no such clause in the agreement?

What should I do here?
