Suunto 9 Peak Pro at €199 in 2026 — worth it?

hello,

I’m considering buying a Suunto 9 Peak Pro, which I can currently get new for €199.

I can get a new Suunto 9 Peak Pro for €199, and I’m wondering if it’s still a good choice in 2026 given its age and the fact that major updates have stopped.

My main uses would be:

  • Swimming in the open sea
  • Light hiking
  • General everyday use

I am not an athlete -not even close. The most important things for me are battery life, GPS accuracy, and durability. I don’t want to charge the watch every week, and I’m looking for something that can handle regular outdoor use without worrying too much about it. I would also to keep the watch for 3 years or more

I’ve also been looking at the newer Suunto Race and Race S. The Race seems quite large, while the Race S is a more compact option for my wrist, but I understand it has a smaller battery and it's probably not that durable. On the other hand it has dual band gps and maps

So I’m wondering: at €199, does the 9 Peak Pro still make sense, or would it be better to spend €100 (299 currently which is kind out of my budget)more on a Race S or another newer model?

For people who have used these watches, how would you compare them specifically for battery life, open-water swimming, light hiking and durability?
