Watch Decision - Coros Apex 4 v Epic Pro 2 v Suunto Race

at a weird time where I can now get all these watches sub-£300 and within £40 of each other.

my request list is quite easy, offline maps, long battery life (I often work away for a week at a time so would prefer to not charge it then. When I’m away I will normally do upwards of 10-15 hours GPS).

I’m a runner, walker and cyclist but wont prioritise cycling as have a dedicated computer. Mainly I will be following GPX routes in new locations so like offline maps for if I’ve overstated my fitness for the day.

My app thinks I’m Batman

Whatever I do, my Suunto app wants me to work harder! For context, I’m 37, 94kg. I run every three days. 4 Zone 2 runs then one Tempo / threshold run. Whenever I finish a run my Suunto app says that I’m still fully recovered and ready to train again. Today I did 7k in zones 3 and 4. I’ve been wearing my Garmin and my Suunto for a couple of weeks to compare data. My Garmin says that I’m overreaching, recommends 86 hours of recovery. My Suunto says I’m fully recovered and losing fitness. It always says that I’m losing fitness. I’ve done five runs with the Suunto race S so far and I love the watch but the app is driving me crazy! I think it wants me to run an ultra marathon every day! Also, I’ve checked and my age, height, and weight are correct in the app. Screenshots attached, taken a couple of hours after an all out, hard effort 7k. Any advice would be appreciated!

Which Suunto Products come next?

Hey guys,

Is there any information about future product announcements? I'm still waiting for the Race 2S.

Do you know if Suunto has set dates for announcing new products every year, like Apple and Samsung?

Impressed!

Received the titanium vertical 2 a few days ago. Fantastic looking device.

Today was in the garage moving things around and scraped the watch against a metal bracket. Had a look and there was what looked like scrapes on the side of the watch. f*ck sake I thought. I wiped it off and behold it is wiped off the metal residue from the watch with no ill effects whatsoever. Now I need to be a little more careful.

help me decide between Garmin, Suunto or Coros

I am deciding between Suunto Run, Coros Pace 3 and Garmin FR165. This is my budget. It will be my first smart watch and need to track running/ jogging, walking, floor activities (pilates, yoga, stretching), occasionally hiking, trekking and if possible water intake tracking.

I am looking for data accuracy, durability and an "addictive" UI that makes me feel motivated to check lists, maintain the streak, visualize my goals daily. (just these features mentioned are fine, I don't need badges or community challenges).

Another feature I am looking for is a smooth synch with strava and full weekly/ monthly plan customization.

Which one would you choose? and why?

Interval Workout Data

I tried making an interval run session based on the Norweigein 4×4. It worked great during the run but I can't figure out how to access the data in the app to see information like what was my pace and heart rate during the 4 intervals and 4 rests.

Would greatly appreciate if someone could help me out with this.

Suunto Race - Body Energy not climbing

Been running into an issue with my watch. I sleep at least 6 hours a night, weekly average is 7.5. Yesterday I woke up to a 31% body energy after a 8 hours of sleep. Weird, but I had hit the gym on Tuesday. Went on a 5k Run yesterday, went to bed with 31% body energy.

Woke up to the exact same 31% body energy as when I went to bed, no overnight recovery at all, yet Resources showed 81%. Shouldn't body energy have climbed after a night's sleep? Is this a known sync/calculation bug?

Suunto Wing 2 or Shokz OpenRun Pro 2

Hello,
I am a cyclist and I also run, so I am looking for a good pair of headphones. For now I was using JBL Flow Pro and I am very happy with them, but they broke, because I use them a lot inside on my trainer, so I sweat a lot and most of the headphones don't last because of that.
What would you recommend in terms of sound quality, the general use and buttons usability, and sweat resistance?

Thank you!

SUUNTO RACE 2

Hey everyone, I'm looking for a replacement band for my Suunto Race 2. The stock one is causing some skin redness and irritation.

Does anyone know of a good elastic/stretch nylon band that is breathable and hypoallergenic? Any specific brand recommendations that fit the Race 2 well would be highly appreciated. Thanks!

Moving Polar to Suunto but worried about poor sleep tracking

Hi. Been using Polar for over 10 years and really like the sleep tracking & recovery insights. Looking to buy the Suunto Race S but I've read that Suunto sleep data isn't great but that the Suunto app has got a lot better recently and may continue to improve.

Has anyone here already made the Polar->Suunto move and if so how good/bad have you found the sleep data and app in comparison?

Watch duration

I finally moved today to a Suunto Race watch from the old Baro 9 which I had used for 7,5 years. What are you duration experience with Suunto watches? I think I might have used the old watch for still some time, but not too long, due to fast battery depletion, HR sensor deterioriation, and lower GPS quality. Not criticising, it's an excellent watch and I will keep it just in case. I wonder for how long other users have been with one Suunto watch. I mean active use, like daily wristwatch plus at least 4-5 sports activities weekly.

Decided to make a bike bar mount for my vertical

As title says I made a handle bar mount for my Vertical. The official Suunto one is sold out and didn’t see too many other ones that mount to the bars rather then the stem. Was also bored. Works well no issues so far. Uses the watch strap to secure it. Debating adding some slots so an o ring would be used as well.

Join up Oura recovery and Garmin training data together and feed it to Claude, ChatGPT, or local LLM

Hey folks,

Some of you already know freddy, an MCP server that connects your Oura data to any AI that supports MCP, including Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity. You paste a personal URL into your AI once, and from then on it can read your Oura data in any chat.

Garmin just went live, so you can now connect it next to Oura and let the AI see both sides: your sleep, readiness, HRV and temperature trend from Oura, and your runs, rides and cardio load from Garmin.

So you can ask whether your hard Garmin sessions dropped your Oura readiness the next morning, or how your HRV and temperature moved across your heaviest training week, and it reads across both.

Oura is supported alongside Polar, Withings, Suunto, Garmin, Intervals.icu and Hevy, with a few more in beta.

You can find it at https://freddy.coach/

I know health data is sensitive and I have handled it for years with fitIQ. Data is encrypted, I do not sell it, and I am not looking to make a profit off your stats, but if you still don't trust 3rd party solutions, just don't use it :)
