Lost my beautiful Puffin to CKD totally out of the blue 😢😢😢💔

My Puffin was 12 and suddenly out of nowhere became very ill a few days ago and had to be put to sleep at home yesterday . End stage renal failure, out of nowhere. She lost a load of weight in 2 days, breath awful, hiding under furniture and isolating herself.  Her sister was also avoiding her when usually they couldn’t be separated and would cry for each other.  When they said they couldn’t do anything she still seemed peaceful and not struggling and I was thinking she may die peacefully in her sleep but yesterday her back legs kept giving way and she cried and we had to have the vet come to help her go peacefully. It has torn my heart out and I feel so guilty that I didn’t know and didn’t get the chance to help her . She spent all morning yesterday lying on her blanket with soothing music and us holding her paws stroking her and telling her how much we loved her and what a wonderful cat friend she has been to us but giving her permission to go and telling her she’s safe.  This is for sure the hardest part of loving animals . It really sucks .
