I Made it to the 5 Year Mark - Remission is over.

Bone Cancer (osteosarcoma) survivor here. I am a 27 year old male. I was diagnosed with cancer at 22 years old. I had stage 2 cancer. Got treated early and had multiple major surgeries on my left femur/knee.

Today marks the five year mark and my doctor at the UNM cancer center said I no longer need to be monitored every six months. My doctor said that if I wanted to get checked once a year that was my choice. But he had no further treatment plan for me.

I feel a mix of emotions today. Cancer has been a big part of my life these past few years and for it to be over feels not real. Because I know that a part of me will always wonder what if this shit returns? And now it’s not just me dealing with it. I have a wife and a son on the way I have to be there for. I do my best to not think this way. And I do a good job of it. But I’d be lying if I said I didn’t overthink small aches and pains.

For someone like you who has passed the five year mark do you still get checked once a year? Do you recommend it? Why and why not?

For me personally I think I will get checked once a year for the rest of my life just to be sure. But I will also do my best to put this chapter behind me.

I also want to say that cancer has not stopped me from doing incredible things in my life.

Most recently I completed an Ironman 70.3! The first one ever in the state of New Mexico. It was the most fun and the most challenging race I’ve ever done in my life and at the end I ran with a cancer survivor poster over my head. God truly blessed me and gave me a second chance at life. I’m happy to be here. I’m grateful for you warriors out there. This community is amazing and beautiful. Stay blessed. Never give up.

(MARATHON) New Player Review -

I’ve been debating buying this game for a few weeks. A couple days ago I finally pulled the trigger. I played the server slam and didn’t give marathon a real chance. I was too busy playing other games like BF6 and Arc Raiders. Adding a new game to the rotation takes time, time I don’t have with family and work.

A lot of people have been negative when talking about this game. It discouraged me from buying it. Without playing it, to me it was a dead game.

My best friend wasn’t one to want to play this game so we stuck to Arc Raiders for awhile.

I was always interested in Marathon.

So I bought it!

And I’ve been having a lot of fun playing Marathon. I like the world and the colors and how much it reminds me of cyberpunk (a game I love!) at first, the square and rectangle features of the game put me off but once I saw passed that I took it as a really cool video game that is unique in its own way. When I think of marathon I think back to when I was a kid. I’d go over to my friends house and we would play on his PS2. He’d boot up a game I had never heard about. The entire experience was new to me. But once I started playing I had some of the most fun playing a video game. That’s the feeling Marathon gives me. Not the “video games make me feel like a kid feeling” but the “this game IS what a video game feels and looks like” it takes you out of this world and into a different one.

I’m having a lot of fun with marathon and I’m glad I bought it.

So far, I started doing some of the contracts and getting to know the first map “perimeter”.
I’ve died a lot. But I don’t really care because this is all new to me and it’s a learning experience. I’ve also gotten my fair share of kills and successful extractions.

The UI is actually easy to navigate once you read what the game is telling you. Marathon is a game I would recommend to anyone interested in Extraction Shooters, Shooters, and RPG’s.

The game has a life of its own and I hope it stays around for awhile.
