Considering a relocated log home

Like the title says - we toured this home which is partially an original log home relocated and then added onto. Neither of us have experience with owning one but from scrolling this sub it seems like some are totally doable (risk and maintenance wise) while others have red flags.

I love the house and my partner is very nervous about the log wall aspect.

Any immediate thoughts based on pictures?

Dream trip suggestions?

Long story but we have been gifted $10k CAD that must be used towards a trip in the year 2027. We’re thinking of going for 2-3 weeks in April or May, when our little one is 10 or 11 months and before I go back to work.

To us this is a substantial budget for a trip and we want to do something really epic/lovely, but also enjoy the fact that we’re travelling with our baby (ie a bit family friendly).

Our current leanings are Southeast Asia as we picture good bang for our buck and some time in more luxurious accommodations than usual. Indonesia is top of our list for that time of year.

However I can’t help thinking there may be some cool outside-of-the-box options rather than just booking flights and hotels. Fir example really cool existing tours, train trips, houseboats, interesting combinations of places…?

How would you use this cash given the circumstances?
