Ultrasound or MRI During Chemo?

At what point during neo-adjuvant chemo did everyone receive a “status check” ultrasound and/or MRI if everything with treatment was going relatively normal? I just had my 5th treatment today. I’ve only had breast exams by my MO so far since all my initial staging scans. I know we will do MRI during AC as we get close to planning surgery but like did you have something before then? I want to know for sure what’s going on in there and if the fucker is on its way out. I swear mine looked like the shape of a rat on ultrasound 🐀 initially.

Patience is a virtue.

3rd Treatment Pacitaxel Reaction

Today was my third treatment—Pacitaxel and Carboplatin. Had tolerated fine first (IV pre-meds) and second (Pepcid/Benadryl as a pill, all other pre-meds as IV) infusions, but within the first 10 minutes today (using the two pills again), I started to experience hot/flushed face, heaviness on my chest, lower back ache and my BP dropped. Within 2 minutes there were 5 nurses disconnecting the drip and pushing more steroids and Pepcid. I recovered quick and finished the Carboplatin, but the MO covering for mine did not want to retry the Pacitaxel and is suggesting that we’ll like proceed with Abraxane next week. I have my 3-week with my MO on Tuesday.

Does anyone know if this still counts as a week toward this first 12-week phase or are they going to make me tack on an extra week at the end to get an extra Abraxane to “make up” for what I didn’t get today? Wasn’t sure how that works.

Just have to thank this community I had mentally prepared myself for this possible side effect back on week 1, knew what to look out for, and knew to stay as calm as possible with deep breaths so I didn’t make it any worse.

Zepbound + Keynote-522

Port placement is scheduled for Tuesday, and hoping to start Keynote-522 ASAP. I’ve been on Zepbound for almost a year (never went above 5 mg) and lost 55+ pounds.

When I met with my MO last week, she suggested I stop because there wasn’t enough research yet about it while on active chemotherapy. Talked to my endocrinologist too this week and she said she was in agreement. So I didn’t take my shot this week. However, MO just messaged me on MyChart and said she’s reading what is going to be presented this weekend by American Cancer Society on GLP-1s slowing progression and is “taking back” what she said.

Has anyone taken a GLP-1 while on Keynote in this group? I’m nervous and am obviously going to talk to my MO and nurse navigator when I go in tomorrow for chemotherapy education, but I don’t want to do anything that’s going to make it less effective. I will say because I’ve remained on such a low dose, I’ve never had any GI side effects like most people.
