Need advice please :bouncing baby to sleep is destroying my keens and back
Hi everyone,
FTM here and I really need advice because my body is falling apart 😭
My baby is 19 weeks old, exclusively breastfed, and until now he’s actually been a pretty good night sleeper. Since around 2 months old, he’s been giving me 7–8 hour stretches at night with usually just one wake for feeding.
But yesterday suddenly he woke up 3–4 times overnight, which is very unusual for him. I’m wondering if this could be the 4 month sleep regression? Not sure yet since it just started.
His naps are another story!! He takes 5 naps a day and every single one is exactly 30 minutes long.
For bedtime, I currently nurse him to sleep. The whole bedtime process takes around an hour. For naps, nursing to sleep usually does NOT work. Contact naps sometimes work, but the only reliable thing is bouncing him to sleep.
The problem is that for the past 3 months I’ve literally been bouncing him while sitting on the edge of my bed, and my knees and back hurt so bad now that I feel like my kneecaps are going to fall off. I tried a yoga ball and he hated it.
I’m honestly desperate for advice at this point.
Should I start sleep training? Is 19 weeks an okay age to start teaching independent sleep? If yes, where do I even begin? I have no idea what’s normal because I’m a first time mom.
Would also love to hear from parents whose babies only took 30-minute naps and needed bouncing to sleep. Did it get better? What helped?
Thank you 😭
