UPD English Studies heads-up po sana hehe

Hello po! Incoming UP Diliman freshman here 🌻❤️ I passed BA English Studies and I just wanted to ask generally what I should expect from the course overall since medyo unfamiliar pa talaga ako with how it works 😅

I’m also currently considering shifting to BA Psychology after my first year, so I wanted to ask for advice as early as now para prepared sana ako 🙏

• What is BA English Studies really like in UP?
• What should I expect in terms of workload, readings, discussions, papers, recits, etc.? 📚
• Ano po difference ng Literature track and Language track? 🤔
• Which one is generally more manageable/flexible if planning to shift eventually?
• Any tips and tricks for surviving and doing well in the program?
• What habits or skills should I start building early?
• Any prof, org, enlistment, or freshman tips in general? 😭

Honestly medyo overwhelmed lang ako adjusting to the reality na college na talaga soon HAHAHA but I’m also super grateful and excited to learn and grow in UP ❤️

Any advice, experiences, warnings, or “things you wish you knew earlier” would mean a lot po. Thank you so much!! ✨🌻

UPD BA English Studies to BA Psychology ❤️

Hello po! Incoming UP Diliman freshman here 🌻❤️ I passed BA English Studies, but I’m currently considering whether I should try appealing/shifting to BA Psychology since iyon talaga yung priority course ko 🧠📚

Since appeals are right around the corner, I wanted to ask for advice sana from people who may have gone through something similar 🙏

• Is it worth trying to appeal to BA Psychology now, or mas realistic/better talaga na mag stay muna sa English Studies then shift after a year?
• How difficult/common is the shifting process from CAL to Psych?
• If ever I stay in English Studies muna, what should I expect from the course overall?
• Ano rin po difference ng Literature track and Language track? 🤔
• Which track would be better if balak ko pa rin eventually mag shift?

And in general na rin:
• Any tips, heads up, or things you wish you knew before entering UP?
• Things to do and avoid as a freshman? 😅
• Any advice regarding workload, orgs, profs, campus culture, or adjusting to UP life overall?

Honestly, medyo naooverwhelm lang ako trying to balance practicality and long-term goals 😭 But at the same time, super grateful ako to even have the chance to study in UP, kaya gusto ko lang talaga gumawa ng smart decisions moving forward ❤️

Any advice, experiences, tips, or real talk would mean a lot po. Thank you so much!! ✨🌻

UPD Dorm/Apartment Help🏠🌻

Hello po! Incoming freshman here at UP Diliman this AY 2026 to 2027 🌻❤️ I wanted to ask for advice regarding dorm/living arrangements and overall adjusting to life in QC / UP, since this will be a major transition for me.

For context, I am from Manila, and while my father suggested na possible na sunduin ako every weekend para makauwi, I am honestly not sure if that is practical long term given transportation costs, time, pagod, and the workload that college may bring 😅

I also plan to be very active in campus life. Balak ko talagang mag explore, join orgs, attend events, build connections, and hopefully look into internships/opportunities as early as I can 📚🌱✨ If things go well, I also genuinely hope to stay in UP long term and eventually pursue law there as well ⚖️❤️ So in a way, I feel like QC may slowly become my second home, and I want to learn how to live there properly, not just survive.

That is why I wanted to ask for advice, both general and specific:

Living setup:
• Mas okay ba tumira inside campus or outside campus? 🏡
• Which is more practical long term in terms of cost, convenience, safety, and student life?
• If you could choose again, would you still stay where you stayed?

Lifestyle / daily life:
• Best places for groceries, affordable meals, laundry, and daily essentials? 🛒🍜🧺
• Good gym recommendations near or around UP / QC? 💪
• Safe places to study / tambay / decompress? ☕📖
• What areas should students avoid, especially at night?
• Is going home every weekend realistic, or does campus life naturally make you stay more often?

Growth / career:
• Best orgs or communities to join for growth, leadership, and connections?
• Any tips for finding internships, side hustles, or meaningful opportunities early?
• For those planning for law / grad school, what habits should I build as early as freshman year? ⚖️📚

Lastly, any do’s and don’ts for living in QC / UP? Things you wish someone told you early on, mistakes to avoid, practical life hacks, or just realities of independent living 🥹🙏

I really want to make the most out of this opportunity and grow into the place, so any advice would mean a lot. Thank you so much po ❤️✨
