Who went blind faster: Sasuke or Sarada?
I saw someone ask the question of “Why did Sarada go blind faster than Sasuke?” and honestly, I wasn’t too sure if she did. So I went and did some arbitrary calculations.
I gave each Mangekyo use and ability a specific point amount and went through panel by panel totaling up these points. The higher the number equals the more use they got out of their Mangekyo before they “went blind”. I stopped tallying points when both characters showed similar levels of visual degradation. I have actually shared two photos of this visual degradation to show that each one is very similar to the other and also helps with the comparison
As for the points, I have put the specifics below.
Instantaneous abilities were points added in that one instance.
For abilities that aren’t instantaneous, the points will be added for every panel that they are active. I treated each panel as a “moment” or a second. If a character counts in seconds, I multiply those points by the seconds counted so if an ability is 4 points and that character counts to 5, then 20 points will be added.
If there is a cut to other characters and our MS user is still using an ability the next time we come back to them, then the cut away panels will be counted. If an ability is 2 points and there is 5 panels of other characters and that character is still using the ability when we come back, I added 10 points for the other panels.
Now for the specifics for both Sarada and Sasuke. These numbers are the solid things, I had to take liberties for panels that felt like one moment in time or even when abilities grew in power slowly
Sarada
Every ohirume ball is worth the following points. Small is 2, large is 6, gravity to the point of disintegration is 25
Every body floating counts for 0.5
Sasuke
MS Genjutsu- 1
Amaterasu- Normal 2, Large 5, extinguishing 2.5
Flame Control- 3
Susanoo points per panel
Ribcage- 3
Ribcage and arm-3.5
Upper body-5
Upper body and sword-5.5
Armored Susanoo-8
Armored with weapon 9
Yasaka Beads add .5 to Susanoo use
After going through each panel, I came to these totals
Sasuke-1846 points
Sarada-1227.25 points
Therefore, Sasuke got approximately 33% more use out of his MS before coming to that level of visual degradation
