How Does Iron Prince Develop as a series?

This is obviously a title that many people love, as it is at the top of many tier lists. So I have to ask, why? What is in it that people like so much? Is there a great change on the horizon, or is it just not my taste in books?

I've been through Book 1 twice now on Kindle. I have a hard time not constantly thinking about the absolute snail's pace. The main characters also can't stop gaping and being astonished with absolutely everything they see. It feels like the writer is so in love with their system of combat, despite it's simplicity, that they expect the reader to be blown away by every little ability and aspect that is mentioned.

That said, there is something charming about the world and characters that had me give it a second go. I kind've want to know where it goes.

So, does the pacing ever get faster? Does the world building ever start matching it's promise? Are the main characters ever going to stop seeming like kids gaping at the world, and start feeling like the competent elites that they are?

Camera recommendations

I'm relatively new to the field. What cameras does everyone find reliable? On a budget is a plus.

Also, can I ask why using a phone is so hated in this field? My iPhone gives nice jpeg pictures, shoots with image stabilization in both wide angle and zoom, and just is easy to work with. I also don't have to have one more device that I carry around and can drop. Is it because it doesn't use removable SD cards?

Pretty Soldiers of R’Lyeh

I apologize in advance for this existing.

I’m having to create a tabletop RPG that is basically Sailor Moon, but each of the girls is tied to a Lovecraftian horror. I’m purposely doing it with all the depth of a writer with a few hours on Wikipedia.

Any suggestions on which horrors the girls should be tied to and what types of powers they will get when they transform?

Like, what powers would my Queen in Yellow have?

For example, I’ve got Nyarlathotep’s girl being the loremaster of the party. When she transforms into Sailor Nya, she is able to shapeshift into any elemental or environmental form that is appropriate for the place she transforms.

For plot, I have it where the girls accidentally opened the Necronomicon, and its pages shot out across the world and they have to fight the horrors they unleashed. That or Dagon is sending monsters from Neptune to take over the world and/or awaken things. Either way, Cthulhu is stuck in a cat-like form with squid face, helping them save the world so it can be he that destroys it once he gets his body back.
