"Piracy" - A taboo topic in Indian gaming subreddit.

"Piracy" - A taboo topic in Indian gaming subreddit.

I'm not sure how people will react to this post but I'm "unemployed 😭😔" and currently free the moment I'm writing this post so here's my two cents about the post being mentioned here and about piracy in general.

Now Mr.X, the guy above posts that a popular streamer is playing "GOW Chains of Olympus" (An abandonware mind you btw) and is using a popular emulator PPSSPP to emulate the game. Mr.X today thought of acting all high and mighty today and decided to shame this streamer of "PIRATING" a game which you cannot buy from the "CREATORS" of the game cuz they thought "ehh, game preservation? Who cares" and carried on with their day. I saw this post today and have some thoughts about it.

  1. Emulation is Illegal ( It's not?)

While the laws regarding emulation itself is a bit in murky water thanks to our dear friends at Nintendo (Lawyers waving from Nintendo HQ 👋). Emulation of a game from a by-gone era is totally "OK". It is totally "NORMAL" to emulate games you can no longer buy LEGALLY from the CREATORS of the game. People who consider emulation as piracy are absolutely downright delusional.

  1. Why is piracy becoming such a taboo topic in Indian Gaming Subreddits?? 🤷

Now before you guys come at me, Ikik piracy is by definition ILLEGAL and openly talking about it comes with it's own risk such as getting the sub-reddit nuked. My problem is with people like Mr.X and people like him from the infamous, one and only "other" biggest Indian gaming subreddit (you know what) acting all high and mighty, going around and morally policing people about what's right and what's wrong. Thinking they are on the righteous side and if they bootlick these big corporations shoes enough, Nintendo themselves are gonna gift them a switch 2. I know a lot of you already know about the whole story of "Average income of India, regional pricing issues, blah blah blah" but is it so wrong that people who pirate are seen as "THE BAD" people? Like somehow their wrong doings is so much worse than actual criminals?

Are we actually having our own Japan moment where people from Spanish community tried to find a way to play Nier Re[in]carnation (another abandonware btw) and my dear friends at Japan took that personally and started a fricking war over X morally policing the entire Spanish community and coming up with slurs that, let's just say is a bit offensive, right?

I am a common man (not really). A student, who played bootlegs and pirated copies of games his entire life. Let's just say that due to this exposure of a really great form of media turned him into an enthusiast. 18 years later, now in my "sweet twenties" and access to online payment apps and the ability to actually buy games, guess what? I'm still broke. But browsing through the steam catalogue, I see Batman Arkham Knight Trilogy, a series I've already completed (thanks to my dear friends at ⛵⛵) for only 249rs. Now 249rs isn't my entirely monthly income but I decide to purchase it anyway even though I have no intention of playing it again just as a way of thanking the devs of that particular game for making my teenage years awesome. Now, am I in the wrong? Lemme know.

(Also lemme know if I'm wrong somehow or somewhere. Discussion goes both ways and I'm genuinely interested in having fair discussions)

2017 - "A great year for KFI"

I very fondly remember this year as one of the last great year for KFI in general (and for everyone).

It wasn't a one-off thing where one actor had a great year. Everyone seemed to have had a hit during this year.

You had movies like Rajkumaara and Anjaniputra from Puneeth.

Chakravarthy and Tarak from Darshan.

Hebbuli from Sudeep.

Sleeper hits like Mufti from Shivanna and Sri Murali.

Even Bharjari from Dhurva Sarja.

And Underrated movies like Ondu Motteya Kate and Operation Alamelamma.

Nowadays it's either KGF or Kantara in a few years or multiple Mortiens, Kebabzz, K(LP)D's a few months. No in-between. Lmk if I missed something from this year as these are the movies I remember from this year.

Excuse me? What 😭 | Dhurandhar 2 (Uncensored)

Woke up to absolutely BONKER news today!!!

We are technically getting a uncensored version.

In the sense, not we? JioHotstar hasn't announced yet but Netflix International has announced Dhurandhar Raw and Undekha today morning coming on May 14.

You can't view this in India because it's only for the international audience and when you try to open it here, it shows "content not available in your country"

Which is the best place to watch The Odyssey in India?

Lie-max or Dolby Cinemas?

I have an official Dolby Cinemas nearby in Bangalore (AMB Kapali). Went to watch Michael there and had an absolute blast of experience. The screen size is really huge. And it's just 450rs for any movie unlike Imax screens.

Or maybe I'm looking at it the wrong way. What's the difference anyway? Apart from the color contrast?

It sounded promising when it was first teaser and trailer showcased but failed to drive audiences to the theatre. I wonder what exactly went wrong with this movie...

Yes, the same guy who gave Dhurandhar The Revenge 5 calling it propoganda and Miachael a 3 calling it boring. You think Anupama Chopra is bad? Wait till you get a load of this guy.

Absolutely abysmal opinions disguised in the name of reviews. Works for IGN so makes sense. Can't spell IGNorance without IGN. He never turns his IG comments on because his opinions are soo trash that he's afraid of people's opinions of his so called "REVIEWS"
