Power steering module from ASX compatible with Lancer ES

Hey folks,

We found out something rather interesting today!!

Driving along in our 2012 lancer ES (AU model) we parked it got back in and suddenly. No Power steering with dash alert!

Frick!

So we went home with a struggle along the way. Located the module and I just out of curiosity opened it up to find....

*Magic smoke smell*

And bug matter (we think ants 😭)

Well shit. Off to the junk yard to source a part!!

All the lancers we found had hydraulic power steering. But out of curiosity we decided to try our luck with similar year ASX models.

We found a 2011 base model Mitsubishi ASX that had electric power steering.

The module was located under the driver side (right hand side) rather then the passenger (like our lancer) and had slightly different model numbers.

But. The base model number 8633 matched along with a few other codes, related plugs and connectors

Out of sheer curiosity we decided to try it out and to our luck immediately we had power steering restored for $50 bucks!!

Not bad and cannot complain!

Just thought we'd pass this on to anyone else who's EPS (electronic power steering control module) decided to cark it.

1st image is the one originally in our car and 3rd was replacement. Ours was a G3 variant while our replacement unit is a Z1.

YOUR MILAGE MAY VARY WITH THIS as we are not professional mechanics. But it's always worth a crack if you can! 😉
