The area is covered by license plate readers. The specific area where he appears to have pulled off SR-154 has a gate that is closed from sunset to sunrise, so his car would likely have had to stay relatively close to SR-154.

There are trails that lead down to the water, so someone could dispose of a chainsaw or other evidence there. Given how small and weak #D4vd is, I do not believe a chainsaw or other heavy evidence would be far into the water. The water is clear, and I was able to see several feet into it with the drone.

Online sleuths are now speculating that one of the folding knives d4vd frequently showed off on live streams could be connected to Celeste Rivas Hernandez’s murder.

A widely shared X post features several photos of knives that d4vd allegedly loved flexing with, asking: “could the murder weapon be this knife D4vd loves flexing pictures of and showing it on live all the time?” The images show d4vd posing with similar blades on multiple occasions. This speculation gained traction after prosecutors revealed that Celeste died from “multiple penetrating injuries.” Commenters have pointed out size and shape similarities between the knives and the wounds described in the autopsy report.

Could the 10:30 PM “where are you?” text messages actually be real, and not a staged alibi? Could Celeste have walked away after an argument upon arriving in the Uber? Maybe those texts from David asking where she was were real, and after he didn't receive a response, he went looking for her, found her, and they ended up driving to Santa Barbara County, where the killing actually occurred? He could have shut her phone off when finding her.

In that scenario, her body could have remained along SR-154 for the roughly 12 days until the pool, body bag, laundry bags, and chainsaws were ordered and delivered (May 1 and May 5). It is also worth noting that the pool was ordered after her death, meaning it would not have contained blood from the actual killing.

The DA’s version of events is a very compressed timeline: arrival at 10:10 PM, a fatal stabbing, and then being composed enough to send an alibi text by 10:30 PM. That is a 20-minute window. They also claim the trip to Santa Barbara that evening was to start disposing of evidence, however the evidence had not even been purchased yet. The pool, chainsaw, shovel and other items had not even been ordered at the time of the first Santa Barbara trip.

There is also the question of storing a body at his manager Josh Marshall’s rental house for 12 days while waiting for tools, with nearby neighbors and decomposition odors likely becoming noticeable within a few days, all while David was out of town and having to trust that nobody would enter a house that wasn’t even leased to him.

This place where they found Celeste's passport card is in a wooded, mountainous area, and it's also 100 miles away from where David lives. He would have had to travel about 2 hours and 30 minutes just to get there.

This Caltrans worker reported the finding to his supervisor, who contacted the California Highway Patrol. The California Highway Patrol came and collected Celeste's passport card, and then detectives from an unknown law enforcement agency returned on January 17 to interview the maintenance worker and his supervisor.

So right around here is where this Caltrans worker is saying they found Celeste's passport card, which is very similar to the briefing that prosecutors wrote out, where they say that it was very close to Lake Cachuma. This area really is very wooded and also has a lot of mountains.

Now, prosecutors are claiming that they were able to get records from David's cell phone showing him actually going on this first Santa Barbara County trip in the middle of the night, right after Celeste was unalived.

One thing I really want to point out that I noticed in this brief—and I don't think I talked about it—is that I don't think they ever recovered Celeste's phone. The main reason I think that is because every time they talked about these text messages between the two, they said they got it from David's iCloud data. They never once mentioned getting this information from Celeste's phone.

That could mean it’s one of the items they believe David discarded in Santa Barbara County and never recovered. Also, don't forget that Celeste's finger, with the tattoo of David's name, was removed—and they said that they never found that either.

What makes me so mad about this tattoo is the fact that people in his Discord who had been there for a long time were literally saying things like this before she was even identified. They were saying, “Don’t say anything about the tattoo. Act clueless.” Those people need to be held accountable too.

Prosecutors are alleging that Celeste was unalived sometime between 10:10 p.m., when she arrived at his home, and 10:30 p.m., when David texted her phone saying, “Where are you at?” But according to the prosecution's brief, David doesn’t even leave the home until an hour later—at 11:30 p.m.—to go to Santa Barbara County for the first time.

One theory I’ve seen is that it’s possible David may have taken and left Celeste in Santa Barbara County initially. People think this because the next day David ordered a shovel from Home Depot, delivered by Postmates. It’s almost like he may have had a plan, then changed it.

That could be possible because after April 24, David’s album rollout happened on April 25, and he was constantly busy. He traveled from Los Angeles to New York, then from New York to Houston, Texas. After that, on April 28, he flew from Houston back to New York, where he had a performance on the 29th.

Then we start seeing more movements. Prosecutors allege that David ordered two chainsaws off Amazon on May 1. They claim that on May 5, David ordered a body bag, laundry bags, and a blue inflatable pool.

This May 5 date is the only thing that raises questions with that theory, because prosecutors allege that “in or about May 5,” Celeste was dismembered. At the same time, it doesn’t completely rule it out, because “in or about” suggests a time frame, not an exact date.

This is consistent with how the brief is written. They don’t specify the exact day he allegedly took these actions—only an estimated window.

So, it is possible that he may have left her in Santa Barbara County, then returned to pick her up on May 8. Prosecutors allege that on May 8—the second trip—he left again at 11:30 p.m.

Neighbors also claimed they started seeing David’s Tesla in the spot where it was later abandoned starting in early May. It was even caught by a YouTuber on May 14 in that exact location.

After May 8, David was busy again—this time out of the country, performing in Korea, Japan, and Malaysia. The last performance I could find was at the Crunchyroll Anime Awards on May 25, 2025.

Then, prosecutors allege that just six days later, on May 31, David returned to Santa Barbara County again. This could support the prosecution’s theory that he was discarding evidence—like the passport card, possibly the missing finger, and maybe even her phone, which was never found.

But we also have to remember that it’s still possible each of these Santa Barbara trips was simply for disposing of different pieces of evidence.
