SSN problem
Hi everyone
I got my SSN issued back in September through the immigration process. At the time I didn’t have work authorization yet, so the card had that restriction stamp on it. Got my green card in February, updated the SSN card to remove the work restriction, opened a bank account, and I’m currently employed. So the number clearly works where it matters.
But a bunch of other services just won’t recognize it like Identity verification checks, credit related signups, and even my employer’s retirement benefits.
So I’m wondering if there’s something else going on, like maybe SSA hasn’t fully synced my updated info after I removed the work restriction from the card.
Anyone else go through this? Did it resolve on its own or did you have to contact SSA or the credit bureaus directly to get things moving?
