Hi everyone,

I’m looking for honest experiences and advice from non-EU professionals who have managed to get a work permit in Switzerland, especially in data, analytics, or similar fields.

I’m a 30yo with 5 years of experience in Planning, Data Analytics, and Business Intelligence. I am currently working in Switzerland (Zug) as an intern in a multinational company (data-related role). I hold a master swiss degree but not from eth / epfl.

I’ve heard of other non-EU candidates (including from my own region) who were able to secure work permits in Switzerland. This made me wonder what the real deciding factors are.

From what I understand, it might be related to:

  • salary level / compensation expectations
  • job title / seniority level
  • degree completion
  • company sponsorship capability
  • or simply sector demand

I would really appreciate insights from people who have gone through this process:

  • Is it actually realistic for someone with my profile to get a Swiss work permit?
  • What made the difference in successful cases?

I’m trying to understand whether I should continue focusing on Switzerland long-term or adjust my strategy.

Thanks a lot in advance for any advice or shared experience!
