i didn’t even realize it might’ve been sexual assault until a few months after it happened. this happened back in may of last year. a couple of my best friends told me that he essentially raped me.
me and my ex boyfriend work together. in may of last year, we went to a work engagement with our teammates and manager. we first went to a restaurant, then went bowling. he left after the restaurant to go handle some things and run some errands.
after bowling, i ended up going to a coworker’s house to hang out with a couple of my other coworkers. long story short, we drank together and i had a little bit too much to drink and ended up calling my ex and convincing him to come over and hang out with us, and he was down.
we hung out for a little bit until i eventually ended up getting blackout drunk and he ended up taking me back to my apartment. he claims to this day that he either a) doesn’t remember anything that happened or b) that he simply took me back to my place, carried me inside because i couldn’t walk due to how drunk i was, helped me changed into more comfortable clothes, tucked me in, and left. but this is not at all what happened, and everything came back to me as soon as i sobered up the next morning. i do also wanna preface that he was at the MOST tipsy if not buzzed; he only had one shot while we were at our coworker’s house.
what i remember happening is him taking me back to my apartment, us getting into an argument, then eventually laying down together, me telling him that i love him for the first time and him not saying anything back, somehow we ended up doing sexual things, i remember him (tmi) sucking on my boobs, and us potentially having sex. he claims i came onto him but as i expressed before i was blackout drunk and barely coherent… we ended up falling asleep together, he left at some point during the night, and left me untucked in, my boobs still out, my skirt up and in the same outfit i was wearing the day before to the work engagement.
when i woke up, i felt absolutely disgusting. hungover, scared, and waking up to him just being gone, as well as basically being half naked and barely remembering anything that happened the night before. i can’t even describe the feeling… i was terrified. i called him immediately and he acted so nonchalant about the whole thing which was also super heartbreaking…
can this situation be considered an assault?
