AITAH for not letting a couple bring their dog to our ranch?
We were planning on having 3 couples out to our ranch for this Memorial Day weekend. The ranch is a family ranch and my dad has fairly strict rules about people bringing dogs he isn’t familiar with (especially when he won’t be there). My wife and I were going over things and realized we never specified to the other couples that we weren’t bringing dogs this weekend. My wife texted the group of wives to let them know and one of them replied:
“We don’t have a dog sitter for the holiday weekend. In general we have the few times we have been to ranch weekends, dogs have always been included. (Dog’s name) has always come. So I definitely thought we were planning to bring her. Doesn’t look like we would be able to attend otherwise.”
My wife said she was sorry for not clarifying earlier and that she hoped the couple could maybe find someone to watch the dog for two nights. The wife’s response:
“Have fun!!”
Another wife also mentioned she hopes they can find a sitter and we’d all miss them if they don’t make it. The wife’s response:
“Miss us”
I have two dogs and I’ve never once assumed I could bring them to anyone’s house, ranch, or any place else without asking first.
AITAH?
Edit: the ranch weekends she’s referring to are other trips she’s taken to other ranches. She has never been to ours.
