Job switch help needed as Im not sure what to do next

So, i've been working in customer support for 3 years now and our company is laying off most of our customer support team as they are automating most of it and due to the company's past 5 years loss.

i want to switch to IT side. I need a reality check of whether it would be worth it as ive been reading that IT is also being automated and many are losing jobs.

I don't have any skillset related to IT and my friends who are in IT have advised me to start studying java as it is still on demand in most companies.

The reason i'm looking for a switch is because i have an 40l ongoing loan and i've been paying nearly 50k every month. So, i want the future to be a bit secure considering my age and job scope.

Please help me with some suggestions and an acceptable timeframe to be job ready if I were to study java from scratch.
