Will hair of the dog get me through this shift?

Starting my shift in the kitchen of a restaurant in 2 hours time, feel so tired and rough. Tempted to drink some of the whisky left over from last night. Or is a coffee and a shower a better idea?

Can they lower my pay the day before I start?

I am supposed to be starting a new job as a chef tomorrow. I have just received an email stating an amendment to my contract and that my hourly relate will be £12.71 rather than the preciously stated £12.76. I was already a little annoyed because the advert originally said £13-14 an hour depending on experience (I've been a head chef and a Sous chef for the last ten years) and this role is Chef de Partie. Should I raise it with them tomorrow or just not bother showing up, which is highly tempting.
