IBS-D sufferers - how soon after eating do you get symptoms?

I’m just curious of others experiences. So I’ve had IBS-D for almost 20 years now. A couple of years ago I took part in a therapy type webinar for IBS and they talked about how when you have a bowel movement it’s ‘reflecting’ what you ate 12-36 hours before.
However why is it that if I have urgency and very loose stools it ALWAYS happens within 20 mins of eating a dinner. It’s like I’m absolutely fine then all of a sudden stomach makes horrible noises, then the pain comes, then I have to run to the toilet.

Has anyone else heard this regarding the 12-36 hours or can offer any advice? I’ve tried tracking my food over the years and apart from the obvious (take aways, lots of dairy etc) my flare ups are really random.

Thank you ☺️

Amitriptyline for IBS - changing dose

Hi everyone, a bit of a long story but started Amitriptyline for IBS D end of 2024. Dose started at 10mg then gradually increased up to 50mg. For me it completely changed my life, I could eat what I wanted, but most importantly my anxiety around eating and becoming ill just disappeared. I fell pregnant last year and despite the ok from midwife to continue taking it I chose to reduce amount to 25mg. Safe to say IBS was ok but symptoms definitely got worse once reducing my dose.

Now I’m 6 months pp, not breastfeeding and my IBS symptoms are just creeping back again and I’m having flares 2-3 times a week.
Would you recommend increasing back to 50mg?
I am a bit worried that this medication just doesn’t work for me anymore and also a bit worried about gaining weight.

Has anybody had a similar experience?

Thank you!
