Ranked the books I finsihed in 2026 so far
Just found the sub and saw a few tier lists that inspired me to rank the books I have read this year!
- Project Hail Mary has easily been my favourite book of the year! I listened to the audiobook version as well which I think made it even better
- To Ride Hell's Chasm was a great introduction to Janny Wurts and I loved it so much. I've never encountered writing like hers. It really made me slow down and appreciate her descriptions of everything. Definitely planning to move onto her other works, specifically WoLaS, but not sure when I want to take the plunge.
- DCC Book 2 was a re-read, and specifically was the SoundBooth Theatres Audio Immersion Tunnel Version. Currently listening to Book 8 now, and then will go and listen to Book 3/Season 3 of the AIT when all the episodes are out. Love DCC so much.
- Reading through Dark Age now and it is probably my favourite of the series so far.
- Unfortunately I haven't really liked what I have read of The Bound and the Broken so far. I have book 3 sitting on my shelf though, and I've seen so many people say it is one of their favourite books and the best in the series. I don't know whether I'm being delusional thinking I should continue, or I should just DNF the series.
Also currently reading The Last Contract of Isako and Crypt Currency, really enjoying both!
I'm planning on starting a new long fantasy series after I finish/DNF The Bound and The Broken. Thinking of either finally taking the plunge and starting either Malazan, RotE or WoLaS. Happy to let people's recommendations influence my decision.
