I made a little organizer combining pin loom weaving, crochet and fabric

I turned a woven rectangle into a little organizer for my craft tools!

The piece is woven on a pin loom using bias weaving, and one of the things I love about this technique is that simply changing the yarn colors can create a beautiful tartan/plaid effect.

For this project I used only yarn from my stash. I combined several thin leftover yarns to make a thicker cord, which gave me a way to use up yarns that were too thin to use on their own.

I then added a crochet border and buttonhole, plus fabric to create the pockets. So this little organizer combines pin loom weaving, crochet and sewing.

I wrote up the process and included the free pin loom and bias weaving instructions here:

Anyone else here combining different craft techniques in the same project?

I designed a leopard pattern for 4-inch pin looms. Then turned it into a bag!

I had this idea for a leopard print pattern for year and finally decided to figure out how to make it work on a 4×4" pin loom.

The tricky part was creating the motif so that individual woven squares could be combined to create a continuous animal print effect. I ended up designing two complementary patterns and then started weaving and joining the pieces.

And eventually… it became a bag!

I really enjoy this part of pin loom weaving: starting with a pattern and then figuring out how to turn those little squares into something completely different.

I documented the process here:

Part 2: Turning the squares into the bag HERE

I'm curious about the weaving side of it: Have you ever designed your own pin loom pattern?
