Still fairly new to TB; confused about some recent contamination…

With levees and/or terrain blocks fully enclosing those sources, I expected my reservoir to remain clean, (at least until the short pulse of backed-up poison when the gates reopen) but it steadily got more and more polluted, even with the overall water-level slowly decreasing…

Does anyone have any ideas? Or need more views?
