(Really large but important note: if you notice how this is, obviously, much poorer quality than normal, it's because I'm trying to take it easier and make this much less of a pain in the ass for me. Also, I'm using custom map software, thus the weird-looking second map. Tell me if I missed anything super duper important btw, aside from lacking the parties and affiliation map. The World Trade Center is built in New York City, becoming the tallest tower in the world. Immediately following this, the sears tower bypasses its height and becomes the new tallest tower in the world. (You thought I was gonna pull a 9/11, didn't you?)

Under Napoleon's rule, France begins to overhaul defense and starts a space program, quickly landing on the moon and establishing colonies.

Namibia invades Botswana for some reason

In the Iraqi civil war, the British-funded and Floridan-funded forces realize they're fighting for the exact same cause and unite. They then 360 no scope all over the guerillas and win the fucking civil war like chads. Chad gives them complements for doing so

Argentina briefly attempts to invade the Falkland Islands, before realizing the British are going to fucking nuke them and that they're in a literal civil war

Sweden attempts to send a random guy named Henry to the United States to sabotage their moon landing, however he fails to get through customs because he is stupid and illiterate

In the same month / few weeks, PELL (Florida), ZHJ (China), ISRO (India), NASA (United States), and the Soviet Union all land on the moon. No true winner of the space race is declared as no one really knows who reached the moon first (largely due to lying to try and be first). Instead, the powers contest control over areas of the moon, and the first ever political map of the moon is created, with the planet divided into zones. No permanent base has been built on the lunar surface, however efforts are being put in place to do so.

Congress narrowly votes to cede the Panama Canal to the United Caribbean States, bringing peace to the Americas, for now.

The Stonewall riots occur in New York City, beginning the modern gay rights movement in the US. Most states and even the world overall embrace the movement with open arms.

Anti-Ballistic Missile Treaty signed between the United States and the USSR, limiting use of anti-ballistic missile systems

Following their referendum, Acadia passes the Acadian Identity Act, creating a new flag heavily linked to Quebec and Canada (to the dissent of many people) and renaming their state to the Commonwealth of Acadia.

Sweden becomes one of the first nations to prohibit discrimination by LGBTQ+ identity, legalize homosexual marriages and legalize trans rights. Some anti-LGBTQ+ actors protest but not many. Sweden also boycotts the World Health Organization for considering homosexuality a mental illness.

With the Czechoslovak rebels receiving lots of Western support and the original Czechoslovak government receiving lots of Eastern support, the frontline stagnates. Both sides are forced to agree to a ceasefire, dividing Czechoslovakia in half, with a capitalist Czechia in the west and a communist Slovakia in the east.

The dispute between New York and Buffalo continues to grow, with New York continuing to demand a payment and Buffalo protesting New York's aggression

Another coup is staged in Iraq, replacing the Ba'athists with a direct Soviet puppet government; the Ba'athists are forced to flee, however they are captured by Mossad agents.

British and Israeli troops flow into the Turkish frontlines, pushing Greece back significantly and ultimately preventing communist expansion into the country.

A referendum for integration into Canada is held in Newfoundland; 87% of the population votes in favor, so Newfoundland joins Canada

Britain unites its colonies of Kuwait, Qatar, Bahrain and the Trucial States (UAE) into a federalized dominion known as the Gulf Federation. Significant unrest against the change develops across the federation, however it is quickly quelled.

The Emuland Commonwealth is granted independence, becoming the Republic of Emuland.

Zealandian Republic of Southeast Emuland, or just Zealandia, declares independence from the Republic of Emuland

Argentina continuously pressures Britain to give up the Falkland Islands, in a growing border dispute

Namibia proposes the formation of a South African Federation with Botswana, Zambia, Angola and Mozambique. Mozambique refuses the offer due to Namibia's condemnation of Apartheid policies in South Africa, which are shared by Mozambique; negotiations to form the federation begin to stall due to disputes with South Africa over the proposed namem and the immense size of the potential nation which would require massive infrastructure projects. It is advised to get a better name and for the railway from Namibia to Tanzania, built in the late 1800s, to be modernized and expanded.

India and China continue their joint program to try and land on the Moon.

Tanzania invades Rwanda and Burundi, claiming that Tanzania had "never consented to Ruanda and Urundi getting independence." Yes, that is how their names were pronounced

Canada pressures the US to give up southern Vancouver Island; the US is reluctant to do so since the area contains important infrastructure and cities, however they ultimately cave, with President Johnson signed the Treaty of Victoria, ceding South Vancouver to Canada.

Libya joins Israel's war against Egypt, launching an invasion from the west. Only a few days after the declaration, under increasing pressure, Egypt surrenders to Israel.

Greece caves to Israeli and British backed offensives, ceding minor territories to Turkey.

Acadia holds a popular referendum; 12% vote in favor of independence, 26% vote in favor of joining Canada, and 62% vote in favor of remaining in the United States.

Senegal gains independence from the United Kingdom

New York founds the Long Island Outer Space Administration (LIOSA), providing a space launch service for private corporations. The combination of extreme welfare funding and the devastation of the New York Civil War causes the State of New York to go bankrupt. Meanwhile, the Federal Government sues New York and LIOSA for compromising national security with the potential leak of technologies developed for the government to foreign powers.

Note that your goal is NOT to gain as much land as possible, but instead to gain as much political clout as possible. Events:

Emergency Admission Act of 1956 passed, admitting Allegheny, Buffalo and Indiana as US states and ending their rebellions.

General MacArthur is sent to suppress the remaining rebellions (Louisiana, Pennsylvania, Nationalists, Socialists). Once done, his army is stationed across New York State to prevent further unrest.

China joins the Non-Aligned Movement, as per previous agreements with India.

The Kuomintang launches an invasion of North Vietnam, with military support from the United States and India. Vietnam is united after a few months.

Civil Rights Acts of 1957 and 1960 are passed to establish and enforce voting rights for all Americans

America goes on 24/7 nuclear alert, considering the possibility of a nuclear attack at any time

Some African states begin mildly aligning with the South (UCS) due to incoming support and supplies

Greenland falls to UCS forces. Denmark is annexed into Sweden and Greenland becomes a South-aligned independent client state. The Faroe Islands are annexed directly into the UCS as a foreign territory

Iceland joins the Latin League

Despite previous strife, the US has by now pulled itself together again

Greece randomly decides to invade Turkey. Directly following this, Turkey joins NATO and METO

Sweden and the Soviet Union decide to make peace, with Finland's (part of Sweden) borders being restored to those prior to World War II

Some protests occur over the naming of the Latin League, as it has expanded much further past South America

Events:

Thanks to American intervention in the Korean War, South Korea manages to annex North Korea, uniting the peninsula and forming the Korean Republic.

Due to the Soviet withdrawal from the civil war, the Chinese Communist Party is defeated in Shandong by the Kuomintang. A republican, Western-aligned government is formed.

In a British and American backed coup d'etat, the Iranian Shah is restored to power, creating a sort of puppet regime in Iran.

Castle Bravo is detonated, 1000x as powerful as the weapons used against Japan. The bomb vaporized three entire islands in the Marshall Islands, and caused long-lasting contamination in the region.

The Civil Rights' Movement emerges in the United States since, despite many efforts, various Southern states continue to exercise extremely racist practices against federal law.

Interstate Highway Act passed, constructing 41,000 miles of the Interstate Highway System over a 20 year period

Athens finally gives in after a lengthy siege. The Democratic Republic of Greece is established, which is immediately invited to and accepts to join COMINTERN. (and later becomes part of the Warsaw Pact)

A major anti-Communist insurrection occurs in Hungary, allegedly funded and armed by the United States. Hungary falls into a civil war.

Various states send their national guard to help suppress the rebellions in New York State. The massacre is televised nationwide, causing mass unrest across the United States.

New York attempts to compromise with the rebels, however their concessions aren't satisfactory to most, and the rebellions continue to prevail.

All three major powers in the Cold War grow wary and suspicious of each other, and tensions massively spike.

The governor of Maryland, while asking Bell to purchase Bell Aircraft, gets kicked in the balls. The governor is broke, so he steals state funds to get ball surgery.

Congress sends financial aid to Israel, because why not

As a result of calls for Canadian independence, Congress narrowly votes in favor of potentionally granting them conditional sovereignty. This doesn't mean they've gained independence yet, it just means the federal government has given the green light for it.

Alaska is admitted as a US state.

Caroll is merged with Indiana; this sparks massive protests and unrest in Columbus and Washington, D.C., along with mass speculation of corruption

Pact of Madrid signed by Spain and the United States, bringing Spain into the Western bloc

Brown v. Board of Education, landmark decision of the Supreme Court, declares segregated schools illegal

Geneva Conference takes place to end the First Indochina War, US rejects recognition of communist North Vietnam and increases aid to South Vietnam

French Algeria begins their independence war

The remaining French Indochina countries of Laos and Cambodia are granted independence

McDonald's is purchased by Ray Kroc and begins its national and eventually worldwide expansion

Baghdad Pact is founded by Iran, Iraq, Pakistan and the United Kingdom, agreeing to resist Communist expansion in the Middle East (Turkey is neutral and excluded in this timeline). Meanwhile, the Soviets send aid to Syria

Emmett Till is abducted and lynched, becoming a major site of controversy and a staple case in the Civil Rights' Movement.

Non-Aligned Movement founded by India, Indonesia and Turkey.

Rosa Parks remains seated on a bus and gets arrested by authorities, an incident which causes the Montgomery Bus Boycott

Warsaw Pact founded, establishing a mutual defense treaty among Eastern Europe

Austrian State Treaty signed by the Allied Powers, establishing a neutral Austria

Disneyland first opens at Anaheim, California

Jonas Salk develops the polio vaccine

Sudan gains independence from the UK and Egypt, causing the First Sudanese Civil War to begin between the Muslim North and Christian South.

Actor James Dean is killed in a highway accident

Tunisia gains independence from France.

Viet Cong insurgency begins in South Vietnam

Indiana breaks out in rebellion against Caroll. At the same time, Pennsylvanian irredentists long hidden in the Appalachians emerge and rebel against Maryland and New York. Finally, Louisianan separatists revolt, aiming to establish a new Greater Louisiana nation.

The Soviet Union declares war on Sweden in response to them allegedly assassinated Joseph Stalin. At the same time, Khrushchev begins de-Stalinization.

Denmark falls to Sweden. At the same time, the United Caribbean States launch an invasion of Greenland, an autonomous territory of Denmark.

Israel takes control over the Suez Canal, occupies most of Jordan, and signs peace with Lebanon and Syria, annexing Lebanon and gaining reparations from Syria.

Central and South American Treaty (CSAT) signed, officially bringing Mexico, Panama, Colombia, Venezuela, Guyana, Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia, and Chile into the Latin League.

Caroll decides to rename to Chalybsia for no reason. I'm still gonna call them Caroll since Chalybsia is a sucky name.

Douglas MacArthur decides to run for President. He calls himself the Savior of the People and claims he will prevent the downfall of the United States and any potential civil war, attempting to run under the Democratic Party against Dwight D. Eisenhower. He wins the democratic nomination.

1956 Presidential Election; In an extreme turn of events, Eisenhower manages to narrowly win the presidency via the Electoral College, despite gaining only 23% of the popular vote.

Dwight D. Eisenhower decides to vacate the presidency, not wanting to deal with the complications posed by the current state of politics. As per the 25th Amendment, Richard Nixon succeeds him.

Historical Events:

Eisenhower Doctrine adopted, where countries could request American economic or military assistance if it was being threatened by another state

Civil Rights Act of 1957, first federal civil rights law passed by Congress since the Civil War, primarily a voting rights bill

Events:

As unrest across New York continues to grow in response to their unruly government structure, various partisans break out in revolt, including Alleghenian Separatists, Buffalo Separatists, Nationalists (in Manhattan), Indians (in North NY), and even Socialists (in Brooklyn). The national guard enters the state to try and contain the revolts. However, unrest begins to spread to surrounding states, including in York (Ontario), Delaware (Maryland), and Caroll.

Protests are seen in Columbus in response to Caroll's proposal to unite with Indiana, seeing the act as selfish and taking advantage of the horrible situation in New York to fulfill the government's own agenda.

Due to the sudden wave of protests across the United States, the Democratic Party begins to massively lose it's influence, in favor of the Federalist Party.

The Soviet Union retracts troops and supplies from China to fight in the Greek Civil War. As a result, the CCP begins to rapidly lose ground, lacking the proper resources to fight the civil war. But, the Greek Communists begin to make ground at the same time, quickly pushing to Athens.

Texas gives massive economic aid to Israel, for whatever reason.

Israel makes a valiant defense against discoordinated Islamic invaders, even making a sudden counter-offense into Lebanon and the Sinai peninsula.

North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) founded to counter Soviet influence.

United Caribbean Republic reforms into the United Caribbean States, annexing Central America and Haiti.

UCS makes peace with Brazil, demanding the Guyanas be made independent.

Florida founds the Latin League with Argentina and Sweden. Brazil is invited however they refuse.

As a result of pro-Independence protests and negotiations, the independent Philippine Republic is peacefully established.

Argentina continues their push into Brazil, eventually getting them to unconditionally surrender. They annex various territories, turn them into an Argentinian puppet, and bring them into the Latin League.

A monkey named Albert II is launched into space in a suborbital flight.

The United States governments decides to play into the UFO myth, claiming they finally found a way to punish the Aliens for sinking the Titanic. This is done to cover up secret weapons testing.

Germany is de-occupied, being divided into East Germany and West Germany

Vietnam declares independence (both as a republic and as a democratic republic) and gains some international recognition

Indonesia gains independence from the Netherlands

North Korea attacks South Korea, quickly capturing Seoul and pushing along the peninsula

United States intervenes in the Korean War (CCP never asked to join the UN, so the USSR isnt boycotting the UN, so the UN doesnt intervene), pushing into North Korean territory

22nd Amendment passed, establishing term limits for the president

North Korea falls to American / South Korean forces, with the CCP unable to intervene

Golden Age of Television begins

Queen Elizabeth II becomes Queen of the United Kingdom

Japanese Peace Treaty Conference establishes peace between Japan and the United States, ending the occupation of Japan and establishing a constitutional monarchy.

Egyptian revolution of 1952 occurs, establishing a dictatorship, ending British influence in Egypt and beginning a revolutionary wave across the Arab world.

United Kingdom successfully tests its first atomic bomb, becoming the world's fourth nuclear power.

Sweden-Norway unites with Finland, becoming the Kingdom of Scandinavia

America tests the first ever hydrogen bomb / thermonuclear fission bomb, Ivy Mike.

Recent polls show that ~65% of the Canadian population (Yukon, Northwest, Nunavut, Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Ontario, Quebec and British Newfoundland) are pro-Independence.

Joseph Stalin is assassinated, supposedly by Scandinavian spies. The sudden perceived threat causes Nikita Khruschchev to quickly unite the Bolsheviks and become Premier, with a lack of a power struggle.

New York currently has the most electoral votes in Congress, and they have formed a single, centralized mega-city which spans their ENTIRE state (like, not even joking, their entire state is literally just one giant city). Should we counter this? If so, how?

The Philippines demands independence, following the common trend in Asia. Refusing will probably lead to an independence war and many casualties due to guerilla warfare. Do we give it to them?

Events:

Maryland signs a separate peace deal with Florida, agreed to by both sides. The peace treaty acts as if Maryland is the president or represents the Federal Government, which they aren't. They even added a snotty "signed, the governor of Maryland" at the bottom. The actual president still accepts it because I mean why not I guess. To summarize the treaty: Venezuela, Mexico and Panama (excluding the canal) gain independence, Florida annexes Trinidad and Tobago (why is this even in the treaty?), Florida and the US gain mutual fleet basing rights in each other, and Maryland (not the US as a whole, those greedy Marylander mfs) receives £5 war reparations from Florida.

The United States launches various campaigns around the world to suppress communist uprisings and incite capitalist ideas in existing nations.

Greece receives lots of American support in their Civil War, along with lots of Soviet support on the side of the rebels. This turns the Greek Civil War into the first Proxy War of the Cold War. Lotta wars amirite?

A proposal to form the State of New England under Providence is narrowly passed by Congress, however it is vetoed by President Truman on the grounds of massively disrupting the political status of the United States.

Presidential Succession Act is passed, determining the order of Presidential succession

Supposed UFO debris is found in New Mexico, kicking off Alien conspiracy theories

National Security Act passed, reforming the military and intelligence agencies of the United States to guarantee national security.

Truman Doctrine establishes the policy of supporting states resisting subjugation by minorities or external powers (unless that power is us hehe)

Indian Independence Act passed by the Parliament of the United Kingdom, granting India and Pakistan independence as thanks for their support in World War II.

COMINFORM founded by the Soviet Union, dictating the actions of leaders and communist parties across it's sphere of influence.

The United Nations agrees to partition Mandatory Palestine, causing the 1948 Palestine War.

Marshall Plan begins, providing aid to American-aligned nations as to make Soviet-aligned nations jealous of the West and want to change sides.

Burma gains independence from the United Kingdom as per the Burma Independence Act of 1947.

Treaty of Brussels signed amongst Britain, France and the Benelux, becoming the precursor to NATO and the European Union.

A communist insurrection occurs in Malaya, causing the Malayan Emergency / Anti-British National Liberation War.

Berlin Blockade begins, as the Soviets block Western supplies entering West Berlin. The west organizes the Berlin Airlift to carry supplies into West Berlin as a result of the blockade.

North and South Korea are founded.

Israel gains independence after the British Mandate of Palestine ends, however this causes all it's neighbours to attempt to invade it to establish a Muslim state in Palestine.

Maryland offers to form a union with Delaware. Delaware decides to accept, uniting the Delmarva Peninsula.

Truman officially desegregates the Armed Forces.

1948 President election, Harry S. Truman is elected president for his first full term.

Congress:

What should be the new Floridian-American borders? (Note that Florida does have some leverage in the peace and this leverage MUST be acknowledged. We CANNOT under ANY CIRCUMSTANCES risk going back to war with them, at risk of a nuclear exchange.)

How do we react to the various independence movements developing across the world? (Indonesia, Vietnam, Middle East, South Africa, etc.)

Send support to Greece in their Civil War?

Merge Connecticut, Massachusetts, Pejepscot, New Hampshire, and Vermont into Rhode Island, essentially forming a united New England under Providence? (proposed by Rhode Island)

Events:

A major offensive to re-capture New Orleans is launched by the United States, pushing along the river and taking the key city within a few weeks.

The Second Trinity Test takes place. Scientists at the scene see a giant flash of light and ear-piercingly loud ring, before a mushroom cloud forms in the distance. Later documentation of the scene shows that the test had succeeded, and the United States had successfully developed the Nuclear Bomb.

Two American Boeing B-29 Superfortresses, called Enola Gay and Bockscar, inconspicuously fly into Japanese airspace (mistaken as reconnaissance) and drop the Fat Man and Little Boy nuclear bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki, respectively. This quickly causes Japan to make the decision to surrender to the United States and allow itself to be occupied.

The borders of Europe and Asia are re-drawn following the fall of all major Axis powers. (Florida was never technically in the Axis, although they are aligned with them.)

Erie is merged into Ontario, and Allegheny is merged into New York.

Just before the United States can drop nuclear bombs on Florida, the United Caribbean Republic declares to the world that it has independently developed it's own nuclear bombs, providing footage to back it's claim. The footage shows a flash and mushroom cloud in the distance, before the Floridian president comes on screen and calls the explosion "pog". The US president realizes the threat this poses to the American population, and agrees to a ceasefire and peace summit with Florida, which will occur the next year.

Soviet Union grants its Chinese occupied territory to the Chinese Communist Party.

United States grants Taiwan to the Kuomintang.

Various nations in the Middle East end their mandates and gain independence.

Ho Chi Minh declares independence from France, forming the Democratic Republic of Vietnam and starting the First Indochina War

Indonesia declares independence, causing the Indonesian National Revolution

South Africa gains legislative independence from the United Kingdom

The Soviet Union develops its own nuclear program, allegedly from stolen American research.

Greek Civil War begins when a communist uprising occurs

Presidential Succession Act passed, determining the order of succession to the role of President

Debris found at Roswell, New Mexico, supposedly part of a UFO

National Security Act passed, reforming the military and intelligence agencies to guarantee national security

Truman Doctrine, establishing the policy of supporting those resisting subjugation by minorities or external powers

Partition of India occurs, India and Pakistan gain independence from the United Kingdom as reparations for drastic military support in World War II

COMINFORM founded by the Soviet Union, dictating the actions of leaders and communist parties across its sphere of influence.

The United Nations agrees to partition Mandatory Palestine, causing the 1948 Palestine War to begin.

Marshall Plan begins, providing aid to American-aligned nations as to make Soviet-aligned nations jealous of the West and want to change sides

Burma gains independence from the United Kingdom through the Burma Independence Act of 1947.

Treaty of Brussels signed amongst Britain, France and the Benelux. This became the precursor to NATO and the European Union (which it would later be modified into).

A communist insurrection happens in Malaya, causing the Malayan Emergency / Anti-British National Liberation War.

Berlin Blockade begins, as the Soviets block Western supplies entering West Berlin. The West organizes the Berlin Airlift to carry supplies into West Berlin as a result of the blockade

North and South Korea are declared

1948 Presidential election, Harry S. Truman elected president for a full term

Truman desegregates the Armed Forces

Organization of American States founded as an alliance amongst all the nations of the Americas

Events:

The Yalta Conference is held by the United States, Britain and the Soviet Union (being represented by President Franklin D. Roosevelt, Prime Minister Winston Churchill and Premier Joseph Stalin respectively), deciding the post-war borders of the world.

Germany undergoes a revolution, forcing Hitler to flee the country. The revolutionaries surrender to the Allies, ending World War II in Europe. On an unrelated note, there have been reports in various countries of people with toothbrush moustaches.

Russia launches a massive offensive into Japanese territory, reaching all the way into Mongolia.

Various Floridian landings in American territory across the Caribbean coast occur. Meanwhile, some American counter-offensives take place further inland.

American and Chinese pushes happen on land and on sea, pushing further and further into Japanese territory.

Second Trinity Test delayed as to provide more time to flesh out the design of the bomb.

President Roosevelt, old and sick, dies of natural causes. His vice president, Harry S. Truman, takes power.

Should we focus on beating down Florida, capitulating Germany or pushing into Japan?

How should we do as such?

Hold the Yalta Conference to decide the post-war borders of the world?

Do we attempt the Trinity Test again or wait slightly longer?

Events:

The Allies commence Operation Neptune and the larger Operation Overlord, landing in Normandy to liberate France. Additional landings happen in Aquitaine from Spain.

Lowland Countries and majority of France are liberated in Operation Overlord (plus Operation Dragoon in South France)

Massive Soviet counter-offensives occur, taking Poland and much of the Balkans

Workers' Rebellion re-joins the Soviet Union, ending the Second Russian Civil War

The US attempts the Trinity Test in Papua. The scientists, upon the bomb hitting the ground, witness a large flash and ear ringing sound, before things clear up and they see the explosion. Initial celebrations take place, however further analysis shows chunks of plutonium scattered throughout. A theory emerges which explains this: the nuclear chain reaction had not taken place. Destruction was also rather minimal although the area was heavily irradiated, which lined up with their theories. The test had failed and it appeared the bomb would need more development. Scientists urge patience among the government.

A deal is made between Florida and New Mexico to purchase Juarez.

In an extreme escalation of events in the Caribbean, Rhode Island has declared an embargo on Florida (also known as the United Caribbean Republic). The situation gradually escalated to the point that Florida declared war on the United States.

Panama Canal, Puerto Rico and the Rio Grande are seized by Florida at the beginning of the war.

Hawai'i is made the primary base of operations in the Pacific.

War Transport Bill passed with the goal of making war logistics easier.

Germany quickly launches an invasion of Hungary and Poland to prevent betrayal.

Brazil, sensing an opportunity, declares war on Florida and joins the Allies.

Paradise passes a resolution to rename itself to it's historical name of the State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations.

Events:

The United States condemns Floridan expansionism and growth, and heavily contemplates an invasion but refrains from doing as such for now.

Allies commence Operation Husky, landing on the Sicilian Coast and pushing into the Italian mainland.

Italian Parliament votes to impeach and imprison Benito Mussolini and swap sides in the war (as the Allies are devastating the Italian south).

Germany launches a rapid invasion of Italy to capture Mussolini and establish a new Italian puppet government.

Florida creates the "Friendship Doctrine", stating that they wish to "make friends" with everybody.

The Racial, Religious, Culture and General Equality bill is passed, guaranteeing total equality across the United States, as per the 14th Amendment.

BREAKING NEWS: Racial, religious, cultural and general non-equality is still on a high as people and states do absolutely nothing to enforce the new law.

Bermuda, historically a Marylander territory (from the Revolution to the Civil War), is transferred to the State of Maryland by Congress.

The United States officially annexes Papua, Nauru, the Solomon Islands, Vanuatu, Fiji, and New Caledonia (to the displeasure of it's allies), using historical claims to the territories to it's advantage.

Florida brings the Central American countries (previously under American influence) into it's fold using promises of "peace", "cooperation", and "friendship".

The Central American Federation is formed as a Floridan puppet government, between the previous puppet governments of Belize, Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua, and Costa Rica.

Caribbean Cup held by Florida, with teams from all over Florida, plus some from the Bahamas, Cuba, Jamaica, Haiti, the Dominican Republic, Ohio, and Maryland.

Germany is pushed back to the Pyrenees.

The Eastern Front inverts as German troops move west, allowing the Soviets to make major counteroffensives.

Latvia and Estonia are occupied by the Soviet Union, perceived as being part of the German bloc due to allowing Germany military access.

The Greek Protectorate declares independence from Germany and joins the Allied side.

Albanian and Yugoslav governments-in-exile are restored.

A brief coup in the Workers' Rebellion results in a pro-Soviet government, yet to re-join the Soviet Union but planning on doing so.

Germany quickly seizes control of the Netherlands and Bohemia-Moravia to protect it's flanks.

Japan declares war on the Soviet Union.

Events:

The US begins providing extra funds to the FBI to prevent any acts like 6/14 from happening in the future.

A group of American scientists is hired by the government to start the Manhattan Project, with the goal of developing the Atomic Bomb.

The Allies begin a landing in Southern Spain. In response to the landing, Francisco Franco negotiates a deal where he agrees to leave the war and allow Allied troops through his country in return for maintaining control over Spain. Germany responds by invading Spain to attempt to depose Franco, although the invasion is less than successful, and it draws troops from the Eastern Front.

The Mayor of New York receives lots of criticism after the approval of a project to build various Anti-Aircraft complexes across the city, and the ban on planes entering the city (as commercial flights have caught on).

Florida "requests" Venezuela give them a trade deal for oil, however after negotiations stall, it breaks out into fighting. Venezuela quickly falls to Floridan expansionism.

Events:

Pearl Harbour occurs, where Japan bombs Pearl Harbour in Hawai'i. The event carries much less weight than it did in otl, since America and Japan are already at war.

Douglas MacArthur creates the MacArthur plan for the Pacific theatre of the war. The plan is expanded upon by President Roosevelt to include the European theatre, following Congress' failure to decide on a single plan (stuck between the Bricker Plan and focusing on Japan). The plan works as follows: in the Pacific, the US uses island-hopping methods to gradually push back Japan, seizing the South Pacific first before working north into China, and finally landing on the Japanese islands via Korea and capturing Tokyo. The offensive only continues as long as Japan hasn't surrendered, which can happen at any time during the plan. Meanwhile, in the west, we execute several landings in North and West Africa with the goal of seizing all of the African continent. We will then use Africa and Britain (which we will defend to the last man) to our vantage to land in Continental Europe and gradually push the Axis forces inland and east, until they at last surrender. Britain already has control over the Atlantic so we can use that to our advantage.

Germany requests passage through Latvia and Estonia for an invasion of the Soviet Union, and as a result of Soviet aggression, they agree.

Britain, Free France and the United States make various landings in Africa, pushing back Italy, Spain, and Vichy France, securing control over the continent. Foreseeing a potential betrayal, Germany invades and divides Vichy France between itself and Italy.

Germany launches Operation Barbarossa, invading the Soviet Union. Ukraine joins on the German side. The rebels agree to a ceasefire with the Soviets to fight against the Germans.

French Syria falls to Britain.

Brazil joins the war on the side of the Allies.

Mexico capitulates to Florida. Florida creates puppets in Guatemala and Belize, meanwhile Mexico is occupied territory. Cartels are illegalized and suppressed.

On 6/14 (Bastille day in France), the Independence Trade Center, only partially finished, with the goal of encapsulating American pride, is flown into by two German planes, destroying all progress and killing many people in the process. Many authorities question how the planes managed to get there successfully in the first place. Investigations show an extreme level of espionage and spies in the New York City command structure. While there are many theories for how this went unnoticed, all the blame points to Germany.

Events:

Selective Service Act passed, establishing a war draft in the US

Smith Act passed, illegalizing the advocation of treason

The Mormon uprising is gradually pushed back over the course of a few months, until the federal government and the Mormons come to a compromise. Texas's attempted deportation of the Mormons is banned and the Mormons are allowed to live in peace, in return for the Mormons ending all military hostilities.

Germany invades the Benelux, bypassing the Maginot Line and invading France.

The United Kingdom declares war on Germany following the blatant violation of Belgian neutrality. (deja vu)

Spain joins the war against France in return for gaining Morocco

Germany issue an ultimatum to Lithuania, successfully seizing Memel and establishing a protectorate.

Britain invades Iraq to depose the existing pro-Axis government there

Greece capitulates to the Axis and is divided

Portugal joins the war against the Axis due to their existing (and oldest in the world) alliance with Britain, declaring war on Spain

Japan declares war on Britain, Portugal, Spain and the Netherlands while they're weak in order to seize their Pacific assets

Thailand becomes a Japanese protectorate

On the grounds that German aggression has allowed the Japanese to grow stronger, and to defeat one enemy they need to defeat the other, the United States declares war on Germany.

World War II has begun. You can still pick any unclaimed states, territories or nations.

Pick any unclaimed state. In this NRP, we'll do the entire history of the United States ourself, starting with the American Revolution and going all the way to the modern day. Note that your goal is NOT to gain as much land as possible, but instead to gain as much political clout as possible. The host may decide to interfere or change things in case things get too messy, but otherwise everything will be made from players. The only other rules are to stay realistic and not be toxic to other players.

Events:

7/13, a.k.a. the Hindenburg incident occurs, in which the Hindenburg is hijacked and flown into the Freedom Tower, knocking it down. The US puts all the blame on Germany, continuing to worsen world tensions. The age of airships ends as a result of the incident.

Following the Marco Polo Bridge and Panay incidents (particularly the Panay incident), the US claims Japanese aggression against the United States, invoking the Neutrality Act, and going to war with Japan. This does not put them at war with Germany, as Germany has refused to sign an alliance with Japan.

Italy joins the Anti-Comintern Pact

Anschluss, Germany annexes Austria

Golden Gate Bridge completed in San Francisco

Munich Agreement signed by Germany, France, the UK and Italy, allowing Germany to annex the Sudetenland in return for peace.

Germany invades Czechoslovakia, establishing the Slovak Republic and Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia in the ashes of the Czechoslovak State. Hungary invades Carpatho-Ukraine and has a brief war with Slovakia in which they annex a strip of land.

The Spanish Civil War ends in a nationalist victory.

Italy invades Albania.

The Pact of Friendship and Alliance between Germany and Italy, aka the Pact of Steel, is signed.

Treaty of Danzig signed between Germany and Poland, annexing the Danzig Corridor into Germany in return for a Slovak puppet. Poland joins the Axis.

Germany and Sweden come to an agreement, whereas Germany refrains from invading Scandinavia (including Denmark) and in return, Sweden continues to export Steel to Germany.

Hungary joins the Axis, and so does Romania due to a coup after the Second Vienna Award.

Italo-Greek War starts, whereas Italy attempts to invade Greece and fails.

Germany launches a swift invasion of both Yugoslavia and Bulgaria, who both refuse to join the Axis. They are both occupied and divided.

France declares war on Germany to counter their aggression, starting the Phony War.

The US condemns Germany and makes clear it's stance against Hitler and German aggression, expansionism and irredentism.

Louisiana decides to bring back the Greater Louisiana movement for some reason, despite us entering WW2

The Soviet Union decides to recognize Ukraine's independence

The US Congress votes to divide Shoshone and rework the borders in the region. Shoshone's electoral votes are passed to Lincoln

The Texas-Namibia Mormon Scheme occurs, in which the governors of Texas and Namibia decide they want to deport all Mormons in the US- and in the future, the world- to Namibia, as to form a Mormon Ethnostate. Nobody knows or understands why they decided to do this, however as a result of the attempted mass deportation, the Mormons took up arms and became a militant group, seizing power and fighting against Texas and other parts of the US.

Historical Events:

Selective Service Act passed, establishing the first peacetime draft in US history (we aren't in peacetime)

Alien Registration / Smith Act passed, setting criminal penalties for advocating the overthrow of the US.

1940 US presidential election, Franklin D. Roosevelt re-elected president for the first ever third term

(Note: At this point, I will not be displaying events in WW2 due to extreme non-conformity of this timeline to otl's war)
