Bi guy coming to terms with being in a monogamous marriage
I was here before. I've had various attempts at chatting and end up feeling too close to people and so run away. I told my wife that I am bi last year. She didn't take it well. If you recognise this story then I may have spoken to you before. Sorry for running away, but I now know I need this outlet, so won't be running away this time.
I'm not going into the psychology of how she felt when I told her, but we are working on it and making decent progress. We will be together forever and I'm so relieved we managed to get to that point.
But at 56, with 25 years of marriage behind us, there will be no extra-marital explorations or acceptance of my interest in men. I won't be casually commenting on a nice arse, or suggesting we watch Heated Rivalry on Saturday nights. My bisexuality will be put back in a box, so to speak, and we will go forward as a couple as planned.
I'm so happy that we have managed to get to this point. She knows my darkest secret and we are still together.
But I have had to accept that life with the woman I love will have to continue to be at the cost of my total freedom to be myself. I am used to hiding that side of me and need to keep it that way to have her as my wife. It's a happy sadness that I carry.
I don't know if anyone else is in this boat, but come say hi if you are. Come say hi whomever you are - I like chatting and can be freely me here.
