AT&T 57K 228 AM...

Found this jewel in a desk drawer in one of our buildings and got it working USB-C. It's a terminal keyboard used on AT&T 5ESS telecom switches and was made in the late 80s. This little guy has rubber-dome foam & foil switches arranged in a capacitive network, think OG Topre. This made it a bit of a challenge to reverse-engineer, but through constant effort an RP2040 running through a pair of multiplexers created the new MCU and provides glorious customization. It is an absolute joy to use and has been my EDC keyboard for a few weeks now. It gets lots of compliments and curiosity and that's how great our hobby is... Thanks for looking!
