Mavic Pro unused and stored for 4 years giving a gimbal motor overload error

I was given a Mavic Pro, it hasn't been used for years. First thing I had to do is to get the batteries repaired, I was told that they done zero cycles. Eventually after getting the DJI Go 4 app and the latest firmware installed the drone did eventually fly but only a very short distance, I was getting constant 'gimbal motor overload' errors. The drone landed safely. I did try a gimbal calibration test but it only completed 5% before quitting.
Reading some other 'gimbal motor overload' solutions, it seems that a ribbon cable may need replacing?
Would this be the case or is there any other causes?
Yes, the shield and guard were removed before it was flown. The gimbal moves smooth and free without any tightness or restriction.
Any suggestions to why I'm encountering the problem will be appreciated. TIA
