I’ll be starting WGU August 1st. I have no prior college experience. I have military logistics experience and warehouse experience. What should I do while in school to solidify a good start in accounting?
Hi guys. I’m seeing quite a few posts on new accountants with no experience struggling with finding a starting position to gain experience. I am 26 years old. I live in WA (1 hour from Seattle). I have no family and my work history is as followed. I did the army national guard from 2017-2023 as a logistic specialist (handling supplies and equipment. While in the Army I’ve worked warehouse jobs on the civilian side. I’m forklift, rico, and crane certified (none which really help me in the accountant career lol). Right now I’m working at cardinal glass ( I help form and ship out industrial windows). With my current schedule I get off at 3pm and have Friday- Sunday off. My question to you guys is this what should I did while in school to give myself a good chance at getting into the accounting career and how should I navigate myself through college? I have no kids also.
TLDR: Once I start school August 1st what’s the best way to go about getting a solid start in accounting when you have no experience?
