How does the difficulty scaling work?

My buddies and I are at level 48 and it seems that the difficulty has stopped scaling and that it has started giving objectives that don't load in? Example: two objectives for rats, but there are no rats that load in.

Snapped a branch off

I was working around the inner canopy of one of my asian pear trees and snapped this branch off. What would you recommend doing at this stage? Should I use a tree wound sealer, or let it heal naturally (if possible)?

Panhandle of WV. Seeing fine dust on my deck under railings (confirmed bees), but now seeing dust at the base if my siding in my home. Is this likely bees as well or possibly termites? I plan to pull all this mulch away from the home. The small patch of tan you see in the mulch is a poison for ants and not additional dust.

Zone 6b WV, clay soil. Who's growing hazlenuts and do you have any regrets? I am thinking about planting a few in the same hole or close proximity. Early in the research process here, but I would prefer ones that stay in the 10ft range or so.
