I feel for all of you that had some awesome informative posts that got slammed by the "but but but the premiums" crowd and therefore didn't make the upvote cutoff. It appeared as long as it was just a "look how pretty this is" type of post the "but the premiums" crowd left it alone ... but as soon as it was a "here is why Goldbacks are a good thing to own" type of post you could literally watch the comments rise and the "upvotes" vanish ... I saw one post that was very informative and showed Goldbacks in a positive light that had 18 upvotes and withing a few hours it only had 2 upvotes. BUT the comments went from like 10 to 50
.
Also, I wish that reddit had a way to make contests like this one was not be a violation of their arbitrary "rules"..
HOWEVER.. I got mine!!! and THANK YOU VERY MUCH!!!!!!
And it is the FIRST non-Alpha Florida GB I own
After giving a bunch as Christmas gifts last year
The biggest challenge I see with Goldbacks having a greater "acceptance" in the business communities is the daily value fluctuation.
The majority of the western world (US) economy is NOT set up on a "barter" system. Therefore the cost to the consumer/end user of goods and services does Not change on a daily basis as does the "spot value" of gold.. However the purchasing power of a Goldback does change on a daily basis....I'm not sure exactly how to fix that other than perhaps a "weekly" exchange value posted up on Monday of the "average" gold values of the previous week... .....
Example of the challenge with a daily fluctuating value:
A business sells X for 100GB (roughly $900 fiat today), HOWEVER gold spot drops 10% the following day making those Goldbacks worth roughly $800 fiat.
With retailers like major grocery stores operating on a 10-15% "gross profit" margin (net profit margin around 2-4%) that means that sale was a NET LOSS by the time they sent the Goldbacks to their UPMA/redemption type account.
And we all know the "bean counters" CFO types whose job is to maintain a profitable bottom line would not be able to wrap their heads around that.
Like I said, I'm not sure how to fix this but hopefully smarter financial minds then mine can come up with a good fix.
Right now gold is on an ever upward trend in value, however we all know that is 100% guaranteed.
Any comments/ideas on how to "rectify" this would be appreciated
EDIT:
I love how this post has gone from 15 upvotes (6/12/26) down to 6 upvotes (6/13/26 morning).. LOL
