Fixing scratch cam mic audio with reference audio-board audio
TLDR: I need to make camera mic audio sound like audio that was recorded through a microphone, into an audio board, then routed into a recording device (Pearl Mini).
(Hospitality, btw)
I had a show last week where we were recording every session in multiple rooms. In one of the rooms, on the last day for that room, the technician that I hired to tech that room somehow turned the only mic that was being used all the way down on the mix that was being sent to the recording device (Pearl Mini). This tech also somehow failed to confirm that the board audio was being sent to the camera, so the only audio we have from this session is the camera’s mic audio, which sounds terrible, especially when you listen side by side to what the audio SHOULD have sounded like.
Now, this tech did notice halfway through the 30 minute session and turned the audio up on the mix being sent to the Pearl Mini, so we at least have that. My question to all of you is: is there a program I could put both these audios in, have it listen, and make the terrible audio sound closer to the good audio? I’ve already tried tweaking this audio myself, and nothing I do can make it acceptable to pass onto the client. At this point, as much as I hate to admit it, I’m even willing to consider AI. I just don’t know what my options are, as I’ve never had to deal with something like this before.
I told the client I’d have their recordings to them by Friday, so I’ve still got some time to figure this out.
Any advice/suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
