Post by Japanese : Japanese artists are putting up no resistance to generative AI. What’s happening in other parts of the world?

In Japan, criticism of generative AI mainly comes from anonymous accounts on Twitter.

Few prominent Japanese artists criticize generative AI, and they don't even raise concerns about copyright.

Even when they do address it, they simply add statements to their social media profiles like 'AI training prohibited' or 'I do not use AI.'

Even when there's pushback in Japan, it stays focused on copyright.
The general vibe is that once that's sorted out, artists being replaced is just inevitable.

I can name plenty of prominent artists who are positive about generative AI, but I can barely think of any who are openly against it.

I think harassment and hate toward artists has gone up since generative AI came onto the scene.

In Japan, I feel like the respect for artists is just steadily declining.

I can only imagine a future where Japanese artists get replaced by generative AI.

Personally, I hate generative AI, but I figure there's no choice but to give up.

I'd love to know what's going on in other countries. What do you think about the situation in Japan? I want to hear all kinds of opinions.

I'm Japanese.

I think Japanese artists will be replaced by generative AI, and I worry that nobody will pay artists anymore.

Please tell me what international fans of Japanese content think about this situation.
